Burgess and O'Shea outstanding 19:14 - Dec 8 with 1335 views | jasondozzell | There's too much bravery and commitment in this squad to roll over. Today was sickening. We're up against it and in the trenches but we've got brilliant characters through the side. 4 points off safety in the Premier League with well over half the season left and a top class manager. We'd have killed to be in this position during the darkest Evans days. Keep the faith.
Burgess and O'Shea outstanding on 19:23 - Dec 8 with 1275 views | pointofblue | Burgess definitely. I thought O'Shea was awful on the ball in the second half and brought a lot of trouble on us which Burgess bailed him out on. First half, and off the ball, he was good though.

Defensively O'Shea is an upgrade on what we have had, I don't think he's brilliant on the ground to be fair but he has shored things up a little I was impressed with Bournemouth today, they're a real handful and they overwhelmed us eventually We could have done more to stop them imho but they're one of the best attacking sides we have encountered this season

Burgess and O'Shea outstanding on 19:33 - Dec 8 with 1216 views | itfcsuth | Burgess outstanding, O’Shea ok, but not outstanding. The man from Accrington for >£1m is comfortably our best CB in the PL. The world of recruitment is a funny old place.

Not sure if I fully agree. We've been perhaps slightly more fortunate with shots hitting the post or panic strikes (there was one today which should have been on target but skewed wide) than earlier in the season. We're still architects of our own downfall more often than not, through giving possession away without much effort required from the opposition to win the ball back.

Burgess and O'Shea outstanding on 20:24 - Dec 8 with 987 views | Garv | To be honest I'm still irked that Burgess was dropped for Palace, I know you have to get Greaves back up to speed at some point but Burgess has been a rock. It's reminded me of the L1 season when he replaced Edmundson after an injury and never looked back again. You're right though. Long way to go, we're losing by single goal margins and generally playing well and playing our way. Even against Palace we didn't play badly, we just couldn't break them down. And yeah, McKenna gives us a fighting chance.

Up until Axel got injured, I felt we had improved defensively quite a bit That might be at the behest of our attacking play at times, we aren't quite as cavalier as our last two seasons, understandably at times

Axel is so important to our backline. Him missing so many games is a nightmare for us.

Agreed, it's a huge loss Is his contract up at the end of the season? We really need to keep him if we can

Yes he plays today and it's quite a different game as Johnson was somewhat overwhelmed

A case for wolfy to come in and oshea to rb until axel is back? Johnson can then be used further up?

Burgess and O'Shea outstanding on 16:18 - Dec 9 with 453 views | kpblues | Burgess was outstanding and fought for his shirt but O Shea (and Johnson) were over run by Bournemouth's classy left side. His distribution is weak and we were told he was fast but he does not show that when faced with faster opposition players. May be work in progress. For me he is not an upgrade on Woolfenden and Woolfie should be given more opportunities.
