Comments from the Chelsea fans forum 10:14 - Dec 31 with 9514 views | ringwoodblue | From the Chelsea fans forum ‘The most annoying thing about that game is that Ipswich did basically NOTHING as a team and won 2-0. Just Delap running around like a maniac by himself and bullying our CB’s single-handedly. They didn’t pass it around and press us like Fulham did, they didn’t smack in a hundred crosses and threaten from corners, they didn’t destroy us on the counter. They seriously just had 1 single striker running and hoping for a mistake from our defense and waiting to pounce. And we obliged.’ Priceless! They just can’t admit that on the night we were better than them. Another comment: ‘Feel aggrieved for our fans going all that way for sub par performances’ They should try travelling from Ipswich to Plymouth - that’s going a long way to support your team.

It probably was quite annoying how happy we were to defend, we weren't our usual adventurous selves, but that needed to be the case for us to win.

Really? I thought up until 2-0 last night was the most exciting football we played all season, then we sat off at 2-0 for obvious reasons

If we play that way every week until the end of the season, I won’t care a jot if it keeps us up.

Disagree. He’s not a one man show, he’s a sole striker and his job is to make the most of the scraps he has to fight for. His ability to make direct runs has been there since day 1, but he is now also holding the ball to bring the supporting midfielders into play more, which is new. I don’t think that a few months ago he would have held up the ball and played in Hutchinson like he did for the 2nd goal last night, that has been coached into him. The fact that Chelsea had 70%+ possession last night yet walked away with nothing to show for it is testament to how well organised and hard working we were as a team. May not have the flair of a Chelsea but we are making the most of the squad we have. A lot of football fans don’t appreciate defending as much as forward play, but last night was a lesson in how to defend as a unit, and to me was a thing of beauty.

But if you look at a side like Forest, they are sitting back inviting pressure, happy to give up possession and then they hit teams on the break with shear pace and they've been bloody good and effective at it this season. [Post edited 31 Dec 2024 11:38]

Once they started all the pathetic shenanigans of trying to con the ref, I knew we had them. Take it on the chin Chelsea, you were beaten fair and square, move on and accept the outcome.

Yep, I mean ...come on, it's just over an hour from London by train, and that delivers you right outside the stadium.

It must have been a long way home for them, cos most of them set off half way through the second half!!

Just to add for clarity the money buying their success was money corruptly stolen from Russia and the Russian people. Two best things in football are Ipswich winning and Chelsea losing. To align them together on the last match of the year at Portman Road rounds off the year nicely. And we deserved the win. Nobody cares about how they thought we played.

Yeah, just taken the piss out of one on Facebook moaning about there being no contact for the penalty. Bad losers, the gift that keeps on on giving - doubly so when they’re Chelsea fans. I once had an horrendous train journey back to London after they beat us in the League Cup on pens - me and a full carriage of them giving it like they’d won the cup all the way back.

You'd be more annoyed if you were played off the park by a team who in League One two seasons ago We certainly didn't do that but the strategy worked in the ways it didn't against Arsenal which didn't surprise me in all fairness, Chelsea are a younger team and still have a lot to learn before they are genuine title contenders It's a funny league this year, Liverpool are a step above everyone else and the pack that follow really aren't that special are they

Chelsea had 76% possession & 20 shots to our 9. No wonder they're wondering how they lost the game 2-0.

Comments from the Chelsea fans forum on 19:13 - Dec 31 with 4881 views | bluesimon | TBH, the team had a terrible attitude, so no wonder their support is also woeful Small things like the Chelsea players not bothering to clear the balls from the warm-up, leaving them scattered around the pitch suggests they came here just so very entitled. With that attitude, no wonder they lost.

Barcelona had over 70% possession v Athletico Madrid and lost you don't need to press high . Wait for teams on the halfway line and suck them in. The only area possession counts is generally inside the penalty box there are plenty of ways to skin a cat.

I believe that up until Mr Abramovic showed up, we had more top 3 finishes than they did. Blows my mind that.
