and told your past self 'in 2025 Town will be in the premier league, spending £20mill of players and having potentially having Englands front 3 playing for us'

How do you think your past self would have replied?

...and that Kalvin Philips would also be warming our bench!

I probably would've just laughed my head off and asked what you've been smoking.

Not only that - but spending £20m for a player for the subs bench!

I thought something along the same lines myself recently. Mad isn’t it and the trajectory is quite astounding. Imagine in May 2028 we have qualified for the Champions League and our first group game that Autumn is Home to PSG…..crazy, or is it?

its even crazier to consider 4 years ago Lamberk was still our manager and quite frankly the only way I thought we'd get out of league 1 was into league 2

Mad isn't it. Kalvin Phillips was superb in that Euro 2020 tournament (actually played in 2021 due to Covid). To think he was one of the first names on the team sheet and we were a penalty shootout away from winning the thing. Paul Cook signed Morsy for L1 Ipswich about a month after that final against Italy. You would've got good odds on him keeping Phillips out of our Premier League team 3 years later.

I wouldn't say morsy kept him out the team. He started 8 of 9 then got suspended and injured.

What is however happening is Phillips looks like he's finding the love of football again. A club. A fanbase. Players.

If we can stay up. We've got to do a deal for him.

a niche perspective

He potentially is now, although perhaps more to do with Cajuste’s progression. The most obvious position for Phillips now is the #6. Neither he or Morsy give us what Cajuste does in that left sided role, he’s Luongo but better. Cajuste + 1 from here on in for me.

Did you see Phillips come out on Sunday with ear defenders on because his mascot had the same? He just looked like someone who doesn't need to take himself seriously anymore, who has realised again what the important things in life are. He wasn't in a rush to take them off either, handing them across right as the mascot went to their "handler" - and he was then imperious during the game. A Rolls Royce navigating around a demolition derby of an opponent. He looks like he is in the place to have the second half of the season of his life as he hauls us to safety.

Ditto. Being a kid I just assumed that was how it was. Until it very much wasn't.

Even though I went to the FA and UEFA Cup Finals, the turnaround in the whole nature of the club in the last three years surpasses that in every way. Not because of what we've won (ie nothing) but what it actually MEANS.

COYB!

Exactly the same experience though I couldn’t do the UEFA final. Lucky you! Bet that was a moment.

What has happened to the club itself, what it is trying to do is more important to me than players, today’s team etc. we were heading for the depths before Gamechanger in every way. Not now. I’m struggling to keep up with it.

Can’t go tomorrow (ITFC resale has worked twice now both perfectly) but I’ll be there Sunday watching Champions Man City walk out. I’ll slap myself around the face and we will still be taking on Man City. Astonishing.

I’ve watched him when he’s been on the bench running along the line, he always interacts with the fans , signing autographs smiling for photos.
