So here we are. TWO years on. 11:25 - Feb 14 with 2461 viewsAsa

I sat freezing under a gazebo in Bristol watching our defence struggle to contain a very poor Rovers side that outplayed us on the night as we struggled to put a pass together or create a chance. Shortly afterwards Morsy got involved in a row with a fan and we looked like making it five years in the third tier.

Tomorrow I'll be at one of the best grounds in the country watching us take on an enormous football club, possibly seeing us in a position of safety in the Premier League with a team full of players worth £20m, £30m, £40m. In a proper stand. Still freezing my arse off.

Been said so many times but in 24 months we've gone from a team of players picked up for modest fees, to one of the top spenders in Europe, a club with a bit of investment to one that's financially secure, a team who could only dream of the Premier League to one either staying in it or with a statistically overwhelming chance of returning straight to it.

What a bloody journey, whatever happens next.

I know stats can be misleading but sofascore would suggest if anyone we were the dominant team that day. I don't think we were but the aftermath of the game gives the game a different complexion. Crazy to see Chaplin, Clarke, Broadhead and Hirst all on the bench.

I know it gets ridiculed but the perspective thing is needed a lot of the time this season.

In my eyes even if we go down then we haven’t failed, as we shouldn’t really be here in the first place.

I don't think reminders are needed really.

99% of us are more than aware of the journey, and appreciate it. Context is important too in terms of we have spent a lot of money, so should make a fight of it.

I'm comfortable whether we go down or stay up, so long as we fight to the end.

I think the fans base has been overwhelmingly supportive, a few dissenters shouldn't cloud that view.

Overall point obviously right and I don't mind these posts at all.

I don't think we were outplayed at all by BRFC though, and if anything we put too many passes together that night - we just had no cutting edge when we got anywhere near their box and if I remember right Ladapo was quite poor and missed our only half chance.

No stats to back this up but I think after that night, and perhaps when Hirst was regularly starting games, we started to mix up our game a lot more and play longer more often.

Woah, hang on - are you saying that just 2 years ago we were in the 3rd tier of English football - why has this not been mentioned on here before?!?

That's nothing, I just found out that our former ma anger Paul Lambert used to play for Dortmund.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

In line with my report at the time. Dominated first half, got scruffy in the second, which might not have been a surprise after a serious of frustrating results.

Town are down to fourth following a frustrating 0-0 draw away at Bristol Rovers. The Blues dominated the first half but without creating enough opportunities, then after the break were scruffier with both sides having chances but with the home side going closest to breaking the deadlock when Scott Sinclair saw a goalbound effort turned against the post.

Struggled to contain them is a bit of a stretch, we were the better team in the 1st half and for the final 20 minutes. I remember Harry Clarke coming on at left back and very nearly creating a goal. On balance probably a fair result, but there’s no way we didn’t deserve the point at least.

Either way the point remains, we’ve come a long way. That feels like so much longer ago than 2 years to me, not in football terms just in life generally. Took fooking forever to get home as well, it’s a long way at the best of times but every road was shut as English roads often tend to be for works post about 11pm nowadays.

I didn't think Bristol R were that good. Two poor teams that night.

But a super journey since.......

How dare you come here with your perspective!!

Every mislaid pass should be roundly criticised and the player hounded out of the club!!!!
