Stoke fans have really taken to him. They are universally wanting to sign him in the summer so far. Some of the comments:

"Put a right shift in"

"Honest player with decent skill"

"Ball sticks to his foot like glue" - I didn't see that one coming as not his strength.

"Willing to fight and drive the ball forward"

"Class, won't happen but would love him here permanently"

"Good touch, good technique, touch of potential magic"

Nice to see and showing he can more than cut it in the champ. Getting games under his belt and sharper. If we do go down he's a useful squad player and saves us a few quid.

He hasn't been good enough for us so far but that doesn't mean he would never make it as a Premier League squad player. I think a lot of the time he played through injury with us too. Great that he is doing well there and maybe we will end up benefiting by selling him but I wouldn't write him off here when we stay up either.

I’ve always thought there was a good bit to his game. He’s young, inexperienced and coming off surgery. The best thing for his career would be to let him go to Stoke in the summer, even for a free transfer, so he can be at place where he’s appreciated and can see where his ability will take him.

Assuming we go down, I could have seen him have a part to play, but not now - he’ll never get a break off our finest.

It's not a huge surprise. The disrespect he got when he turned out for us was painful at times. He's young, he's had a ridiculously quick rise to the top, and he's clearly got a bit about him. He's missed two penalties for us now but because of his attitude I honestly don't think it will have affected him that much.

I don't think we should be desperate to offload him at the first sign of a bit of cash.

I don’t think it’s fair to keep him Garv. The levels of abuse he’s had and will get here makes playing for this club untenable. If I was him, I’d be pushing my agent to get me out at all costs.

I'm extremely pleased for him.

He is certainly good enough for the Championship but at this time he isn't anywhere good enough to be involved with the Premier League - even if he had Boca Juniors support behind him. .

Our finest can do one - as far as I'm concerned, anyone who pulls on the shirt for us deserves our backing.

This is a young player who was trying to learn to adapt to a jump of 2 divisions whilst playing with an issue that eventually required surgery, and was then asked to do a job for us whilst trying to get back to full fitness at an even higher level when Hirst was out injured. The plan was always to get him a Championship loan at the start of the season, but he was kept on for cover when the Broja / Latte Lath transfers didn't materialise.

Lad didn't deserve the pelters he got - Clarke has gone out on a Championship loan after coming up a bit short too (and pretty much for the same reason - returning from major surgery)...practically the same age, but no-one is writing off his Town career because "he's one of our own".

I hope Ali continues to improve during his loan spell and returns to us to prove the doubters wrong.

Al-Hamidi fell foul of our struggles in the transfer market, and got brickbats because of it. He wasn't ready for the Premier League but there is a player in there. Saying that, his performance against Bristol Rovers didn't help quell concerns.

I was listening to that match in the car during the first half. The commentators reckoned he was Stoke’s best player. Loads of running and causing the Swansea defence all sorts of problems (albeit he was up against an aging fullback playing at CB). But his decision making seems to be an issue. It sounded like he got into good positions a few times then chose the wrong option, so no goals/assists.

Good experience for him though - I’m surprised he got a Championship gig. I thought he’d be off to
l1.

He got was it 4 goals for us in not many minutes in the Championship last season so it's not a huge surprise he looks at home at that level. He's been unlucky here with injuries and fitness and never being in a position to get a run of games but you can tell he's got the raw attributes to be a very handy striker. Who knows what level that will be at, but he's still young and should only improve.

He's also had the opportunity to watch what it's taken Delap to do to become a highly effective and valued PL striker at close quarters.
I hope he comes good.

We could sell him in the summer and put a £20 or £40 million buy back clause in the contract!

I don't think we will sell, even if we stay up, we could send him out on loan for another season.

I think his efforts this season coloured my view a bit. You’re quite right of course. He didn’t play much last year but looked exciting (unpredictable?) nonetheless. I’m probably being a bit harsh on him.

Not a chance we let him go for free and frankly a bit of a daft suggestion. If we go down and KM thinks he can do a job then he will stay, if not then we sell him for at least what we paid.

Also, he got plenty of love at the tail end of last season so it hasn't all been bad here. He's a big boy, i'm pretty sure he can take the rough with the smooth.

There are dozens of professional clubs. Why stay where you are not wanted?

Quitter? I see myself as a modern Flashman. A poltroon!! Not really. No, I’m actually somebody who doesn’t give up, I’m very much ‘fight not flight’, though people who know me are the best judges of that.

But sometimes you have to move to prove yourself in a work environment.

Edit: I just hated the way he was treated, as I do Muric. I’m not blind, understand the mistakes, fitness issues etc but always felt encouragement cost nothing and was more productive than abuse. You can always make hard decisions later if you have to

Ali needed week in week out football and not at PL level, so despite my pessimistic and probably wrong take, I’m glad he’s doing well and feel he’s in the right place for now.

I really hope we keep him. He's got great potr tial. As has already been said, he's had an ongoing injury that he's been trying to play with. Also, it's hardly his fault we buy him eith a view to develop gor the Championship, but then go on to gain back to back promotions.

Absolutely right. He has a good few months in champ with Stoke and he will be worth 2-3x what we paid (he does have prem experience on the CV at least as well).

I also don't buy that he would feel remotely unwanted here. A few moronic fans isn't going to stop him wanting to ay for us in the champ. He's got strong character and his day to day with McKenna and the players is strong and he will know how quickly it turns in football with a few goals.

For me he has a lot to work on but has the drive to get better. He has good attributes. I don't think he'll ever be a great play technically to watch but many strikers haven't had that and had really good careers (Kuqi wasn't bad in the champ!!).

£2 million would mean almost no profit, if any. He would go for more than that, but would think he would go on loan again next year unless we are relegated, then he would be a backup option.
