Bust a gut, drive forwards, press the fkers, if we have to defend, bust a gut to defend together, but drive that ball forwards, take the simple passes, yet don't be afraid of that killer ball. Leave absolutely nothing on that pitch come ft.

Is that a discarded bit of john Barnes rap from world in motion?
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

To be fair relegation doesn't necessarily halt the resurgence, not that I welcome it, we still have a chance to rebuild this club at the top level either way, Fulham and Bournemouth have had to bounce down in recent years, and look where they are now.
We just need to learn from this. Don't do a Norwich.

Winning our home games has been the problem innit.
Its a curious one really, not just for us but if you look at the bottom 4 they've on aggregate collected more points away than at home this season. I think the idea of home advantage at this level is a bit of a myth for clubs like us, unlike the Championship where its perhaps more of a differentiator where the gap isn't so big. Top teams at this level are too good compared to the bottom ones, too experienced, and the gap is so vast that we could play home, away, on the Moon and we'll still be 2nd favourites against most of them. We're as likely to find a win away as we are at home IMO. Perhaps the lesser sides are under a bit less pressure away as well, with less expectation to get on the offensive and get picked off.
13 games left. Can we get 15+ points to give us a sniff?

Only problem with those Moon games is the atmosphere's a bit cr@p.

I think that’s what I took from Ashton’s interview with Holland and McKenna. The club is moving forwards regardless.
It is interesting to me just how this season has thrown a spotlight on how far the club had fallen behind the clubs at the top table (not the big boys, but those who should been our peers) in every way and how much of a scramble it’s been to make those improvements. It feels like promotion was a little out of kilter with the rate of progression for the rest of the club, welcome and brilliant though it was.

It’s all good with much to look forward to.
The rise of Brentford, Brighton and most annoyingly Bournemouth has them light years ahead of us in terms of squad strength and recruitment. It’s hard to compete and also play catch-up at the same time. If we can somehow survive this season we have a chance to narrow the gap

Let's be honest, after we failed to go up in 04/05 it's all been decline, sure, McCarthy to his credit was able to keep us up in the better half of the Championship (and even playoffs) on Marcus Evans's peanuts, but other than Mick we were due a drop/League One, so if we simply ended up being a top 6 Championship team over the next 5 years we'll have still made progress.

Unless you opt to cheat ala Nottingham Forrest, Everton, and Leicester, if anything is being shown to us is having better players, and spending outside of the rules will win you more points than you will lose in punishments.
Of course if "little" Ipswich did that we'd probably get deducted 20 points.

That's really norwichy to think like that.
League finishes 20 years ago are of no relevance at all. We're on firm financial footing and we've got a lot of exciting young players. We're not out of it this season, but if we do go down we should be aiming for top 2 next season.

Realistically it was all decline after Sheepshanks and his Board messed up in 2001. Royle did remarkably well to make us competitive in those circumstances as McCarthy did in defying gravity.
More than 20 years without investment: little wonder we were behind in so many ways and in some aspects still are.

Not really Norwich-y, it's the nature of the game as they head towards their closed shop top flight, chances are that will happen and we will be caught outside of it, on the upside there are plenty of big clubs out of that system who have huge fanbases, enough to make an English "super league" with Ipswich, Leicester, Southampton, Burnley, Sheffield United and Wednesday, Leeds, Derby, Pompey, Sunderland, Blackburn, West Brom, Coventry City, Watford, Middlesborough, QPR, Brum, Bolton and so on.

I agree 100%, where I have some sympathy for Sheepshanks is the iTV digital thing really did the damage, even though we were reckless in the market in 2001. I'd say Joe Royle was our unluckiest-ever manager and deserved a promotion. His idea to sell the training ground and abandon the youth system in 2006, which was screamed at, at the time, and led to him leaving, was probably smart business given we had absolutely no ability to bring in players anyway and were on a hiding to nothing.
