Hirst holds the ball up do well and brings the other forwards into play, BEST out of the two strikers.
We need more than a 25-30 blistering mins of Delap with his eyes down, running with the ball from the half way line at defences,style of " leading the line".
The two would work well together...
Later in the game replace one with Enciso.
But for his sake, McKenna TRY it . We have nothing lose now. What is the point of bringing Hirst on with FOUR mins left ????

The biggest issue, and it has been one since Ashton took over, is the lack of third option up front. Delap has needed a break, we needed to be able to play two up top from the off at points this season so they could share the burden, but the option hasn't been there. | |

How many Prem teams start games with two out and put number 9s? It's not a tactic you can employ at this level if you want to succeed, especially as a newly promoted side. A third choice striker is always a tough gig to recruit. Anyone near their prime doesn't want to be a third choice, if it's a youngster they need to have enough about them to compete, if they're a veteran there's always a risk they're too far gone to be any use. |  |

I said "third choice" but, in truth, they would have come in as competition as first choice, as it would have opened up the opportunity to move Delap to the right. I'm not sure if Delap would have started as many as he had, at least up front, if we had someone else to pick up the slack. | |
