So, when IS McKenna going to TRY 17:27 - Mar 8 with 1516 views | ArnieM | ..............Hirst....... Broadhead.... Delap.......Hutchinson Hirst holds the ball up do well and brings the other forwards into play, BEST out of the two strikers. We need more than a 25-30 blistering mins of Delap with his eyes down, running with the ball from the half way line at defences, style of " leading the line". The two would work well together... Later in the game replace one with Enciso. But for his sake, McKenna TRY it . We have nothing lose now. What is the point of bringing Hirst on with FOUR mins left ????

I can’t wait for us to have something on the right Hirst with encisio behind / Clarke/smzodics/philogene or who ever on left / delap on right then same midfield and defense as previous games. We need a different dimension to our play not just like for like subs and looking powder puff on the wings -

Palmer O'Shea - Woolfenden - Burgess Johnson - Phillips - Cajuste - Townsend Delap - Enciso Hirst Then a load of pace on the bench to bring on against a tiring defence - Philogene, Hutchinson, Clarke, perhaps Davis.

Hirst brings a lot more to the game than just his goals. He a true target man, spraying passes about to his team mates. Delap, not so much.

The biggest issue, and it has been one since Ashton took over, is the lack of third option up front. Delap has needed a break, we needed to be able to play two up top from the off at points this season so they could share the burden, but the option hasn't been there.

You mean we are missing an excellent third choice centre forward. Yeah, OK.

Delap will be amazing when he gets some service. He perhaps rightly feels like he has to do everything here as we are notoriously negative and ponderous in build up play. The number of times today we turn and pass backwards when there is a progressive option available.

A good idea but I believe in Enciso. Enciso must remain as starter.

We're missing an option to take the pressure off Delap and Hirst, plus offer something different. Would someone like Latte Lath have made much of a difference? Not sure, but he would have provided McKenna with another choice.

How many Prem teams start games with two out and put number 9s? It's not a tactic you can employ at this level if you want to succeed, especially as a newly promoted side. A third choice striker is always a tough gig to recruit. Anyone near their prime doesn't want to be a third choice, if it's a youngster they need to have enough about them to compete, if they're a veteran there's always a risk they're too far gone to be any use.

I said "third choice" but, in truth, they would have come in as competition as first choice, as it would have opened up the opportunity to move Delap to the right. I'm not sure if Delap would have started as many as he had, at least up front, if we had someone else to pick up the slack.
