RIP at the start of summer… Saw the beach boys last ever concert (with him involved at least) back in 2012. 59 songs in 3 and a half hours, all brilliant

All three brothers are gone now, Glen Cambell has gone too. Just MIke, Bruce and Al left.
Sad times. Always think about "the warmth of the sun" when they mention JFK as this was written the night he was killed and kind of shows how they felt. Interesting.

Brian Wilson was one of the greats. I remember a particularly dire performance at Swansea (near end of season in 2011), and for management I think we had the Paul Jewell crew. Anyway, we lost 4-1 - and from somewhere we launched into Sloop John B. Though it clearly wasn’t, at the time it felt like the worst trip we’d ever been on.

I remember having a music lesson at school which begun with us listening to Good Vibrations and then spending the remainder of the period analysing how the track was formed and recorded under the direction of Brian Wilson who was 24 at the time.
My favourite song, like my favourite film, hasn't stayed the same and jumps around a fair bit, but this one has definitely been it at some point. Just brilliant...

Maybe because it is so catchy, this is a song I remember hearing as a 5 year when it became a hit.
Brian Wilson and the group were definitely among the all-time greats. And it's difficult to think of anyone who beats them when it comes to harmonies. They also had their own version of the Wall of Sound.

Just heard on Planet Rock, asked in a recent interview, what would he most want to be remembered for? Knowing he was suffering with dementia, his answer: "a writer of 'God Only Knows' "!

Doubt if we will ever see his like again.
R.I.P.
The answer to that is apparently over the course of 8 months with $70,000 (almost $700,000 today) and four studios.
