Peaceful protesters arrested in Parliament Square. on 19:05 - Jul 12 by chicoazul | Wouldn’t happen if they all had ID cards. If you’ve done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear!!11!11! |
Sadly, the law now deems them to have done something wrong, so ID cards or no would make no difference. [Post edited 13 Jul 7:37]

The police often state that they don't have the resources to deal with minor crimes, yet, not only do they deploy hundreds of officers to peaceful protests, but each of those 70 arrests will take officers off the streets to write detailed arrest reports.

….and yet these people persist in breaking the law when they know the impact it will have on fellow citizens….. Is there not something more constructive in support of the victims of Gaza they can spend their Saturday afternoon doing rather than ideological point scoring?

Imagine if we all just accepted the law and the word of the state though. We would still have slavery, women wouldn't have the vote and Liverpool fans would be held responsible for the deaths of the 97. [Post edited 13 Jul 11:51]

“We” are you actually doing something or just whinging on a forum? I mean a while back you admitted to watching sexual harassment etc in your military unit and didn’t report it!

What am I "whinging" about? Not that I have to explain myself to you, but what can I do, apart from peacefully protest (which should be a human right)? [Post edited 13 Jul 18:03]

"I mean a while back you admitted to watching sexual harassment etc in your military unit and didn’t report it!" Did I? I joined the military 40 years ago, so I probably did witness sexual harassment (I'm sure we all did back then), but I don't remember mentioning anything here.

If you can’t remember what you write don’t be surprised when it comes back to you😂 Just to jog your memory it was in the thread about the black woman sergeant taking action against the MOD and Glasgow Blue pulled you up on it! Now if I had time to spare I would probably troll back and find it but I can’t be that bothered TBH. Carry on with your pointless peaceful protesting it’s getting you absolutely nowhere concerning Israel and Palestine.( or stupid sabotage of MOD equipment)

What are you doing to about it? Obviously you don’t think Noggers is doing enough by trying to raise public awareness. It sounds like you must have a much more effective plan. It’d be good to share it and then maybe more people could join in.

The offences concerned are triable either way which means a defendant can opt for a Crown Court trial before a jury. No doubt many will choose to do this which will only further clog up the backlog of trials. There is also more chance of a jury finding them not guilty than would be the case before a magistrates court. [Post edited 13 Jul 21:23]

I haven't denied it though. Sexism was 'normal' 40 years ago. You must have an amazing memory, if you randomly remember the post but can't be bothered to find it.

The more implications you consider, the dafter the decision to proscribe Palestine Action gets. The resources to arrest, hold, charge and try people who are testing the law. The horrendous PR from pictures of grannies and vicars being arrested for just sitting quietly. The undermining of trust in the law makers and the police who have to enforce them. That in itself undermines efforts to tackle genuine terrorism. And on it goes. It’s an utter clusterfk. Cooper’s created a monster completely unnecessarily.

Interesting to note from this week's Private Eye that before the vote to proscribe Palestine Action, the Home Office officials floated the idea that Iran was funding Palestine Action. This no doubt helped to swing the vote. The Times ran with this story but subsequently the Home Office denied to Private Eye that there was any truth in this. allegation. According to Private Eye the Times backed up its story with similar allegations from NGO Monitor which is an Israeli-based organisation and thus hardly objective. Amongst other things it has said that Medicine Sans Frontiers "abuses its status as a humanitarian organisation to launch venomous anti-Israel political campaigns". As a regular donor to MSF, I find that claim objectionable. [Post edited 13 Jul 21:51]

Peaceful protesters arrested in Parliament Square. on 06:29 - Jul 14 with 386 views | noggin | I see "a technical error" has killed another 6 children, who were queuing for water. How Israel expects us to believe their "We only target terrorists" mantra, I don't know. As many as 20,000 children slaughtered since October 23, by an ally of the west, is shameful. Oh but Palestine Action are the terrorists.
