I hope we give Muric another go 18:09 - Jul 7 with 6931 views | FrimleyBlue | Part of me wonders if he will be off, but if not, I hope to see him given some pre season games when hes back and the start of the season. We missed him massively in regards to corners and some of his saves weren't repeated by those that followed. I know he made some really bad calls. BUT there were many occasions with palmer where morsy, cajuste etc all took short suicide balls from him, but because the end result wasn't a goal, palmer kinda got away with a lot imo. I think its great for town in that we have 3 fairly solid keepers but all have their weaknesses. Muric for me is the one who you'd hope could be that top goalkeeper he has the skills to be as he has that added physique and i don't have the stats to back this up so ill hold hands up if im wrong, but I felt we were actually better with muric than the other choices despite his clangers.

I hope we give Muric another go on 14:49 - Jul 8 by Ryorry | "I've presented some *simple* analysis" (my emphasis). My point exactly! I'll leave the in-depth analysis to KM thanks - who saw fit to replace Muric with Palmer, and then keep him as #1. |
And simple is better than none, which is my point. It's easy to put forward a proposition, less so to validate it with some credible supporting facts. You're also still ignoring the fact that Muric has been injured since early in the New Year, which was noted bu KM as one of the reasons Palmer was brought in as emergency cover for our 'keeper line-up. But if you don't want to try and substantiate your (not KM's) alternate viewpoint, that's a good way to end the discussion.

I hope we give Muric another go on 14:55 - Jul 8 by itfcjoe | It was fairly obvious just from looking at it, and the fact McKenna dropped him and then when he had to come back in for a game we signed a new keeper the next day |
Ignoring that fact that Muric was already carrying the shoulder injury at that point, and Walton picked up a significant groin injury, leaving us very exposed on the 'keeper front at the end of January. People very quickly forget the facts, and create their own narrative....

I defended Muric for as long as I could, but anyone who goes to games and pays any attention could see the issues - even from Day 1 when he doesn't take a full part in GK warm up sessions pre games. He has some great qualities but he it won't happen for him here because the management team and players don't/won't have confidence in him for a variety of reasons

I hope we give Muric another go on 15:40 - Jul 8 with 678 views | burnbudgiesburn | Seems like our much self hyped due dilligence on players character failed us on this occasion if he really is not a team player. I read the Burnley forum when he signed and it was full of similar stories, and not just that day but going back a couple of years about how he had refused to train. Personally i'd always try to give players time to adjust before getting rid, you can't be blowing £8m too often. If there truly is no way back for him here then I guess the only way to recoup some money on him is letting him go to somewhere like Turkey on loan for the season, with maybe a permanent option in the deal.
I hope we give Muric another go on 16:00 - Jul 8 with 652 views | ITFCSG | The fact that he has never nailed on being a regular starter at his SEVEN previous clubs and was ditched at Forest just after 4 appearances on loan speaks volumes - His shot-stopping skills and height at corners may be good, but a general lack of footballing IQ, concentration lapses in middle of games and possible lack of social EQ - perhaps all 3 combined - has effectively negated anything positive. You can improve footballing skills on the training ground but Muric's issues goes beyond that. So what if he was the PFA Champ team of the year?

Bournemouth & Southampton (H) are more than enough to warrant never seeing him again. Brentford (A) was Atrocious. Reckon he cost us 10 points this year, not to mention that opta have him making the most mistakes leading to goals from any goalkeeper in prem history

Simple is *not* necessarily better than none - see my post & full substantiation at the bottom of p2, followed by at least 5 further relevant posts from me, so I was clearly not trying to end the discussion. You seem to focus only on the things that suit your opinion. And I'm obviously in agreement with KM's opinion - why should I then spend hours analysing figures to try & find something different to what he has already, just to satisfy your obsessing over stats, on a fine summer's day when I have a shedload of weather dependent gardening to do? Your post at the bottom of p2 only lists things that could influence such analysis and possible outcome, with no application to the games Muric played in, whereas what I posted are stats specific to Muric. That’s like me saying Delap would have scored 20+ goals last season, had the goalkeeper been in a different position. That’s possible, but with no data/analysis to back it up, it’s purely speculative.

At the end of the day, Muric is too tall for either the Bluey or the Crazee costumes, so it’s highly unlikely we will see him on the pitch again.

I hope we give Muric another go on 12:36 - Jul 8 by SE1blue | Hoping Muric will come good reminds me of when we used to hope Bishop or Huws or KVY or the return of Murphy might be the answer. We are in a better place than that now and we don’t need to hope a guy that repeatedly made mistakes and didn’t really fit McKenna’s team model comes good. Like a couple of other players that fell short of expectations last season, he doesn’t quite work, move on. |
