Ta. Who'd be a juror. IMHO, given the violence beforehand, I'm not surprised he gets kicked. I'd marginally come down on the side of the copper.

Why should people take even a 0.1% risk when dealing with animals like that? And yes, the first rule is when you get somebody down you make sure they stay there. |
Indeed and being serious for a moment just imagine the reaction if the police hadn't reacted like they did and guys ended up setting off a couple of bombs Id rather the police took no chances

Indeed. I worry at this creep towards the view that the police should shoot first and ask questions later. The alleged attackers in this case had no way of knowing the cop had a gun, let alone had any intention to take it, so I really don't think they were lucky the police didn't use lethal force. If we start justifying lethal force as a proportionate response to any perceived threat then we may as well give up and move to the US.

Braveheart is a rubbish film - nothing to do with the historical inadequacies. It’s just a rubbish film.
Manchester airport CCTV on 09:13 - Jul 8 with 1166 views | baxterbasics | Don't know, so I'm going to trust the legal process and jury to come to the right decision on this one. As a general point, I think we need to be cautious in judging police actions in the heat of the moment during a potentially life threatening and highly tense situation like this.

...and highlights what a difficult job the police have, trying to make snap-shot decisions in highly stressful and traumatic situations. It's easy to watch a video, and be critical of decisions that were made, in hindsight. Policemen/women are humans too, have emotions and will sometimes overstep the mark when the pressure is on, they are not robots. *I haven't seen the video in question, and I'm not commenting on this particular incident, just on severe situations (which this clearly was) in general.

Did your colleagues actually complain when you listed it as a comedy film? It’s mostly a rubbish film - but, the bit when Edward throws someone out of a castle window was quite a good scene.

My good friend works for the police investigating murders. They had a case where a paranoid schizophrenic had brutally killed his brother and had ran off. He had been spotted near a train station so my mate and his partner went to check out the area. They spotted him, but had no backup close, but due to the brutal nature of the crime and the persons mental state, they decided that they had to act immediately. He says they went over, made themselves known and the guy, who was a big boy, went crazy and went for both of them. My friend basically said they ended up having a fight with the guy for 10 minutes while they waited for backup to arrive. My friend ended up nearly losing a testicle and was black and blue. The criminal took a battering too, but they did what they had to to keep themselves and others safe. There are times when force, and sometimes excessive force, is needed. The guy in the airport has already committed an assault before this and then assaults three police officers including one with a gun. As I said, in hindsight, I think in this scenario the kick to the head wasn't the wisest choice, but I think it's an understandable one considering the violence committed if only to shock the guy into submission. The legal case will be a really interesting one as it opens up the 'What is reasonable force?' debate which will more often than not, be somewhat subjective. Conscious/unconscious bias is real though, I'll give you that. [Post edited 8 Jul 9:31]

Would you be this upset if this was a an attack by punching on two random women which resulted in one of their partners booting him in the head. Or is the problem the fact that it's Plod?

Manchester airport CCTV on 14:51 - Jul 8 with 679 views | Pendejo | There is no amount of training that will prepare an individual for how to react to being on the end of a battering, what that training does do is help ensure you have the strength and resilience to take a battering and come out on top. Yep the footage of cop kicking matey in head is shocking but so are the events leading up to it. Timeline as reported; Mother told sons a 3rd party had insulted her Sons seek out 3rd party in a coffee shop and assault him Police conducting routine enquires are brutally assaulted Police were fighting for their lives Simplified nutshell May I suggest that you Google Stephen Oake before being overly judgemental of these armed Police officers that didn't fire a single shot nor draw weapons, unlike elsewhere in the world.

Entirely different set of circumstances Besides, with nothing to back it up, it wasn't the police. Hence why there were Comms issues. The back drop was 7/7 bombings and 21/7 attempts at bombing. De Menezes was shot on 22/7 Doesn't make it right. You've worked overseas, you've probably seen things get out of control.
