No chance we will be his only option. I think there are a lot of interested parties. I think he probably has a bit of reluctance stepping down (which is completely understandable) but I expect he'll also see/understand the career positives and sitting behind Delap and João Pedro will mean he at least definitely wants to go now. I still wonder if we are quite confident/hopeful given not a lot of news since this on striker front but who knows.

We are definitely going to try and get him, Chelsea are trying to ship out Jackson but I assume Nkunku is still ahead of him in the pecking order

Marc Guiu on 08:05 - Jul 11 with 3843 views | RIPbobby | This is the one I am hoping for most. Not sure a prem team will risk him as their 1st line striker. We should be the most likely location for his career development and I'm sure Mr Delap will pass on how highly he rates our manager and team. Hopefully once the club cup is done he comes straight to Portman Road to sign on. But I fear that he is most likely to go on a 2 week holiday to mark the end of last season. Shame really. Imagine he’ll go to one of the promoted sides at the end of August. Seems entirely unrealistic to me that he comes here.

Yes that seems pretty plausible too. Perhaps they are more likely to take a risk this season.

His Pedigree is just so elite. La Masia graduate who has made first team appearances for Barcelona and Chelsea in his teens. Even scored for Barca on his debut. Scored a hattrick in the conference league this year. Perfect style fit as a tall striker who can press all day, but is also technically really good from his schooling in Spain. Yeah, think people underestimate what a big signing that would be for us ... even if on loan.

Cheers sure sounds like it would be a real coup. I saw he changed hands to Chelsea for a modest sum (have since read that £5m was his release clause) and he hasn't really played for them despite their striker issues, apart from in that European comp where he seemingly played very well, which made me wonder if he's as far forward in his progression as convo suggests. I see he hasn't climbed beyond U19 yet for the national team too, perhaps hampered by leaving Spain. I would be very excited to land him though based on others' excitement. [Post edited 11 Jul 9:32]

They'll be moving on Nkunku too you'd imagine. He hasn't worked.

My worry with this one is that we will be basically his last choice, which is fine I have no issue with that, but likely means if we do want him it'll rumble on and on like it did with Broja (we were quite far down the pecking order with him too). I hope lessons were learnt last year and that we move on to other targets before the last days of the window.

Missed a good bit of time with a Hammy injury. Think Chelsea weren't keen to rush him back. Got him back to pre season where he has had a full pre season with the first team out in America, even with limited match minutes.

Think the signings we get in will be key before hand Show our cards and real ambition to going straight back up, it may help with negotiations with those who aren't quite sure

Why on earth would we be his last choice. Phil, please never again mention a player having some reluctance. I e never seen a case where so many have taken this to mean he has zero interest to join us/hates us haha! The lad is a top talent and back himself. Of course he wants to play for Chelsea over us or a Prem club etc. I'd be more worried if that wasn't the case. It doesn't mean he has zero interest in joining us. Just like anyone he has to think if it's best for his development. I actually think he will risk another season of few minutes going to another Prem team. Let's see. If he comes to us it's because he decided it was best thing for him. Not because we were last choice and he had nothing else. He will have tons of choice.

Would people expect him to displace Hirst over the course of the season, to share the starting berth, or to mostly be a "finisher" for us (in all respects)? I know Hirst / Delap divided opinion last season and it appears that Delap has/will displace Guiu at Chelsea, which to some minds may give Hirst the edge off the start line. Is Guiu's game more akin to Hirst's?

Going by your description he sounds a step up from Delap then. Strange world.

Id say Hirst is a decent comparison tbh. I think Hirst (rightly) goes in to the season as the first choice striker. He has earnt that, I back him to have a good season if he stays fit. Think Guiu with one of his best attributes being his pressing and his running power off the bench initially would be really good. Then the chance is there for him to earn a start if he plays well or if Hirst gets injured which as we all know is a concern for him.
