Stand in the way of an examplary professional/actually a f king hero earning a life changing amount of money or hold said individual to his contract. Sometimes and in special circumstances you have to recognise what the man has done and say so long and thanks for the good times. |
^^^THIS^^^ Plus in enhances our reputation as a 'good club' which will help attract top players in the comings weeks/months/years Plus, echoing what Frimmers said, we wont have done us any harm with the Kuwaitis who you never know just be that 'other' investor we are looking for Well some Sam on the life changing pay day and well done Town for allowing it to happen for him Couldn't be sadder yet more proud [Post edited 16 Jul 8:09]

Sky reporting on morsy. Fair play town on 07:06 - Jul 16 by Wallingford_Boy | Why? It’s not like we need the cash! Parachute payments, Delap cash, loaded investors, what’s a few million going to matter? |
There's zero chance it would have been a few million for a 34 year old in the final year of their contract either. If his value was a few million we might have held out for a fee.

Agree. We might in today’s inflated transfer market got £1m but I very much doubt it. Given he’s allegedly on £1.5m pa, if he’s keen to take up a Kuwait offer then letting him go for no fee, but reinvesting the wages on somebody else makes some sort of sense. The trouble is I don’t know the mechanics of this, i.e. what was offered by who, what Sam wants to do and most importantly what the club wants going forward. One thing is for certain. If he wants to move on, it’d be foolish to block it given what he has done for the club and his relationship with it. I’d prefer he left on the best of terms and not p£ss about for a few £100k. You never know what people might bring to the club in future years, whether it be contacts, recommendations, coaching, whatever. Is this big picture thinking or delusion? No idea, but should he move on I hope either KM or MA shed some light on it.
