Swings and roundabouts from Sky.

“Hutchinson is understood to be keen on a move to Brentford and is disappointed a deal was not agreed between the clubs.

Brentford remain interested but Ipswich have no intention of selling him despite their relegation to the Championship.”

And Summerville...

I actually think Sitters is right. Normally I'd struggle to find genuine reasons for why somebody would want to stay with us in the Champ vs. a PL move.

However, Andrews is a total unknown quantity and there's a real risk he's gone by Autumn if they're not off to a good start. Add to that two of their best players have gone already and a third likely. You'd have to think in those conditions he might find it hard (er) to shine and get the exposure he wants. I can't see a huge upside for him personally here aside from the money.

Arguably he's better off starting the season here under KM in (hopefully) a winning side and seeing if Forest, Fulham or similar come for him in Jan.

"Add to that two of their best players have gone already"

The only reason Brentford are after him is because Mbeumo is going! If he was staying then there's no bid for Omari

I don't see how a player with ambitions of playing for England is better off staying in the championship rather than moving to the Prem. Especially at the age of 22. Even if Brentford struggle this season he'll still be playing in the premier league. He'll still be on more money. He'll still have a bigger stage to impress on. He'll be more likely to move to a bigger club at the end of the season if he plays well etc etc

What can we offer over that?

Not money, not premier league football, practically no chance of an England call up. I really don't see what we have this season that Brentford don't.

If he stays in the championship then he's lost a year doing of all of the above

Not sure it's pessimistic, more objectively setting out the facts.

I'm certain the others mentioned (Summerville and Carvalho) also MASSIVELY believed in themselves too.

And, as much as I rate Omari, and I really do, wildly optimistic to think he'd be in the running for the WC with one good season in the PL when Bowen and Madueke can't even get a few mins here or there.

Let alone he needs to get past Saka, Palmer and Foden who also play his position.

I’m not suggesting as a starter!

But devils advocate, he’s just scored in the U21s Euros final. He will have people telling him “you can’t let your career stagnate, you’re 22, you need to be in the Premier League, look at what Tuchel said about the Premier League, you’re good enough to sneak into that squad next summer”.

We’re Town fans, of course we look from our perspective, but his will be different. It doesn’t mean either are necessarily 100% rational or objective, understandably.

There’s a reason we’re all desperate for him to stay - he’s Premier League quality, so he’ll definitely be wanting to stay at that level.

But if he stays, happy days!

God, I hope he does!

As has been said many times, he'd be like a cheat code for the championship

How surreal does it feel for us to be turning down £35m for one of our players. Genuinely quite surprised we have as well. How times change!

Exactly. We can’t have it both ways - if he’s a Championship cheat code (agreed!), he’s also playing below his ceiling by staying.

That doesn’t mean he won’t stay / we won’t keep him, mind. [praying real hard emoji]

I'm not sure he will go with this. He has a great relationship with Kieran and this just seems a move to a team who will struggle given al their changes.

Might be in the minority but think it would be astute from the club to get some value and sell here.

Put a good sell on clause in, free up some PSR headroom to bring in some high potential midfielders instead. We're stacked in our non striker attacking roles and need the stability elsewhere.

Need to get used to the turnover of these types of players if we want to make it with the big boys.

It’s a fair argument.

We’re all excited about £8m Ruiz. We could get a few more of that standard with £35m.

But - if Omari gets us promoted, that’s £100m+

They can afford whatever we ask. It’s just whether they agree they can still make a profit on him.

If I'm Omari then Mbuemo leaving is a positive. It opens up the spots for him to start regularly. They finished 10th with their two superstars. Does he back himself to provide the talent to ensure that 10th doesn't turn into 18th next season? I reckon so.

Andrews is a big unknown, albeit not to Brentford as he's their continuity candidate. Not as precarious for new signings as it could be because the manager doesn't dictate recruitment there.
