Adult Night Classes/Activities Ipswich 20:58 - Jul 16 with 2745 views | Swailsey | Hello. In a bid to battle the depression that I’m terrified is going to destroy me, I’d like to get myself out of the house in the evenings - and join a club/something creative. I’ve had a look online but am struggling to find something that isn’t a hugely ad-sponsored list of university courses etc. Does anyone know of any sites which list activities in the Ipswich area? Strip-clubs and brothels don’t count. Thanks x

Im looking for a new co-presenter for my radio show on a Tuesday night. I suffer with MH issues and I am autistic, its great therapy having the freedom to chat about anything and play decent music. I recently left my job because of the toll it was taking on my mental health, and they helped me so much. If you can make the time to see them, it's worth it. They also recommended the talking group at Portman Road (Tuesdays from 6pm), although I can't go because of family commitments, so no first hand knowledge. Left field suggestion for activities. You mentioned music, do you like karaoke? There's a fortnightly one at the Silver Star on Vernon Street every other Thursday (tonight from 8.30), with a really friendly crowd.

I've always been quite active, team sports etc, and when I go through periods of not finding the time I really notice changes physically and mentally, concentration levels, all sorts. To that end I go to the gym a few times a week, I never loved gym and found it really boring to be honest, but I've got more in to it and enjoy going there now. Cycling, running, swimming, tennis, squash, 5-a-side, golf, anything really. Generally clubs are really welcoming of new members, so have you considered a local running club or such like? A good thing to do socially, physically, mentally and its free (other than some running trainers). I signed up to a beginner squash league not knowing anyone else in it, or where my level was really. After a while I found my level and enjoyed that a lot. While I'm no longer in the league as I can't commit to the schedule, there's a few I'm still in touch with and play against on a semi regular basis. TLDR: Physical activity for the W. I really recommend joining a club if you can. |
along those lines, Parkrun is really friendly and welcoming and you don't have to be a serious runner at all
