Crowdfunding for an U10’s football kit 10:24 - Jul 17 with 1921 viewsdavblue

All,

Apologies for the ask but trying to get this spread as far as I can. My boys u10 football team have been playing in an old tired kit which they’ve now outgrown for the last 3 years. A sponsor has pulled out and the team desperately needs a kit for the 25/26 season. We are planning for other fundraising activities but any help towards the target would be appreciated!

I'd be interested to know what the Clubs registration fees are. Club should 100% be providing those and if there are nearly 60 teams, they absolutely should be.

Every team I've been involved in, the Club will pay for the home kit through registration fees. Training/ Away kit funded by sponsor. Typically a kit would last 2 seasons with top ups for new players etc.

As for going through their supplier, you are under no obligation to, I would say, if you are having to fund it.

Also, £1600 is an awful lot. Kitted out my girls teams for under £600 up until the last season or two and even now is only around £800.

Good luck bud.

Thats shocking a club cant afford a kit. something somewhere is seriously wrong. My guess the kids are attached to the adults and the adults team is spending the kids mooney.

I question my club and how they have a stand off mentallity and the manager has to do arrange everthing.

I will say my club is ran properly financially and they cover the cost for balls, kits and other stuff needed.
The manager is expected to find sponsers though

Think it’s fairly standard, coach paid from own pocket £200 for kit from his own pocket from my boys u9.

Grassroots football is crazy, clubs not financing kit, won’t let you play friendly match on pitch for “protection” of sloping field, when in the prem millions are spent on agents, contacts for kids etc etc

The only Muff in Town.

we have to go through a club supplier and we aren't allowed to use other companies unfortunately. Agree on the costs but the club won't release the club badge if we don't use the correct supplier!

Thats ridiculous
I was heavily involved with a decent sized club until recently - boys, girls, mixed, mens, ladies, vets, walking etc
Id suggest the Club look around for a new supplier and in the meantime help your team out
If they are a decent outfit they wont want any of their teams playing in old and ill fitting kit
£1,600 is way too much

You can sort kits for less than half that.

Get some letters out to local businesses. Shops, corporate stuff thats local to you, local trades etc. Offer sponsorship on front of shirt and a nice canvas team photo in kit to go up in their office etc. You might be surprised.

The people running the club are f**ck wits!

Sorry, but this kind of thing really annoys me.

Volunteer coaches work their socks off, and wannabe politicians who 'run' the club get in the way, rather than helping.

It does smack of someone on the board working for that kit supplier

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Time to change to a boys and girls club badge.

Create you own affiliation still using the same club name ( simply adding boys and girls after )

Job done.

Choose your own kit supplier
Choose your own kit
Bring in more sponsors

A few observations.

1. Your club has appears to have an adult first team playing at level 8 in the football pyramid, so I wonder if some of this is driven by a desire to keep as much money as possible at the top of the club to pay what are presumably semi-professional players.

2. Expecting to pay £1,600 for a kit appears to me to go against the idea of football. being available for all. Have you thought about taking this up with the County FA who should be just as interested in promoting youth football within the club as adult football?

3. Have you asked other teams how they manage to afford the kits?

4. Could you not get an old kit off one of the teams above you in age terms, especially if they have recently bought a new one?

5. The junior team my son played for held a large 6-aside tournament in the early summer which more than paid for new kits. On the other hand, there were no adult teams to subsidise.
