Why the comparison to the men's game? No women's match is going to be anywhere near the quality of League 2 but why does that matter? Women's football exists in its own right. If you go to a boys under-10 match you don't think ah that's rubbish compared to the adult team, you accept the limitations and take it for what it is. |
Exactly. People watching athletics don't scoff at the women saying 'well they wouldn't beat a good male club runner', or whatever (ok, actually maybe some do...). She wasn't great. Her positioning on the pitch caused two collisions and a couple of really clear corner / goal kick mistakes. Didn't seem a hard game to ref either as there wasn't a lot of play acting or bad challenges. |  | | |

Agreed. She risked injuring a couple of England players and missed the elbow on thrown out by the Sweden player late in the first half. It was one of the worst refereeing performances that I’ve seen in live TV and I’ll be surprised if she’s still on the FIFA list come the next tournament.
Given the quality of the referees on the WSL in beggars belief that none of them were selected when some are clearly just not ready. | | | |
