Brentford closing in on Omari on 12:40 - Jul 18 with 3344 views | victorysquad | It seems pretty clear the club do actually want to sell him. I am guessing it helps oil the wheels for the next set of players we bring in. If we get £35-40m it is a fair price, lets sell and move on. If Chaplin and Sammy can play 10, we need players in other positions more than this (assuming Philogene and Ogbene can cover right wing).

40m would be roughly level with the second highest Championship transfer ever. If he wants to play in the PL then I can see why the club would entertain a sale at that price. It's certainly not 19m at least. SB | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeah, whilst I'll be gutted to see him go, it makes sense for him and us if the price is right. I don't really see the need to get a replacement in for him, it would be good to see Clarke, Szmodics and Philogene really nail down that attacking trident with Ogbene, Chaplin and Broadhead as more than able back up.

I also think Brentford is a decent place for him to go from our point of view. There's a much higher chance we'll see a decent chunk from a sell-on than there is with Delap. No idea why Omari's so keen with all the uncertainty around there this summer, but they're a pretty efficient selling club.

Don't confuse want to sell with an offer that is too good to refuse. In my opinion, £35M-£40M is in the latter category, and top money for a 21yo with only 2 years experience, 10 U21 caps and 2 full international caps (with Jamaica). He's got a huge potential, but a lot of talented U21s have had huge potential at this age but not kicked on to the career they have hoped. I sincerely hope his career continues to develop and grow, ideally with us but if not elsewhere, either way can the club afford to turn down an offer of this magnitude.

I think Town are wanting this one over line and to use the money for our targets, which I Hope it includes a proven striker...

£35-£40m? I’d take that, even if a big slice does go to Chelsea. Especially if the player wants out. The odd thing is that I didn’t think we stood much chance of signing him in the first place after such a good loan season. I thought Chelsea would retain him or that he’d go to a bigger/established PL club like a Brighton, Fulham or maybe an Everton so in a sense, any profit is a good profit. Providing its reinvested.
Brentford closing in on Omari on 12:59 - Jul 18 with 2582 views | Reus30 | Not buying it, even some of the original source tweets turn out to be rubbish. I don't think he will move this summer unless a massive club come in for him. He owes a lot to McKenna and you would hope he at least gives us half a season before moving on depending where we are in the table.

Its gutting but I doubt there's a player in the division who couldn't be bought at what we'll get for Omari. That said I'm not sure there's a player in the league as good as him either.

Is there a bone in your body that isn't bitter? Same with Delap leaving for the Prem. Ambitious and confident young men showing ambition and confidence in their ability and career path.

Beeb reported at the time we paid £20m with a further £2.5 performance-related add-ons. Assuming maybe half of those triggered (a guess seeing as we dont know what they are). So £21.25m investment. Also assuming Chelsea have a 10% sell-on clause, then we'd stand to make around £12.35m if he goes for £35M. More obviously should he go for closer to £40m. If he goes for less than £35m then questions need to be asked.

There's easily players in the league above who are better and who we could afford? If selling Omari means we can strengthen midfield and get in a good striker, I'm happy. Chappers is a very good No 10 as is Sammie. Can't help but think a couple of quality signings are imminent.

What does he owe to McKenna? He was sold a dream of a joining a club bidding to cement itself in the premier league. We went down with a whimper. I'd be ringing my agent every hour if I was him.

Absolutely. People seem to forget that players back themselves. They want to play in the best league in the world, testing themselves against the best, increasing their chance of going to one of the big boys eventually.

Omari owes the club and manager nothing. Yes, KM has improved him as a player but we’ve also benefited from his performances. When he’s an old man he’ll look back with fond memories of his time here. But he owes it to himself to push on as a player and this means playing in the PL - and if he has a great season there, then there’s a good chance that he’ll move on to a much bigger club. If his transfer fee is invested well, we will be able to buy three great players to push the club on.
