Sargent on 21:58 - Jul 18 with 3430 views | MattinLondon | It’s got nothing to do with luck - a good scouting system identified him and the rest is history. His new club would have done a comprehensive medical assessment on him and are happy to spend that much. Whether they can replace his goals is another matter.
Sargent on 22:15 - Jul 18 with 3205 views | DinnernotTea | 25 years old Full International 48 goals in 130 for them Previous Bundesliga experience Obvious how they can bag £21m. Their scouting network for 10 years has been faultless pretty much. We need to step right up and I guess we've now started. Sainz £14m Sargent £21m. That's them out of the woods surely?

They've already signed Danish striker Mathias Kvistgaarden who is meant to be an exciting prospect so already have his replacement in the door ... we'll see.

Not quite as faultless in recent years in fairness but the residual talent from the PL years is now gone We will see how good their scouting is this season

Sargent on 23:08 - Jul 18 with 2686 views | Churchman | Not lucky. They’ve clearly got a good grip of the market and transfer price inflation. Which is why £30m for Delap was a total steal (beyond our control) and £40m for Hutchinson is very good value for Brentford. Far better than made of glass, mid table Championship star, oddball Sargent at £21m. I’d be opening the batting for £50m. How many prospects as good as Omari are there that are available?

They got good money for Rowe and Sara as well not so long back. Out of the woods financially, almost certainly. With their parachute payments running out they needed to as well, they’ve shifted a lot of big earners as well over the past 12 months, particularly some of those plodders like Hanley, Barnes & Hernandez who were complete guff and rumoured to be on about £40k a week which is mental. Feels like they’ve just about rid themselves of the premier league legacy contracts now, but with Sainz & Sargent goes most of their proven attacking quality. It’s going to be interesting to see if they stabilise as Championship also rans or can put something together to challenge at the upper end.

Obviously they've had some good success in patches but some dross too, and have spent a lot more than I realised.
Sargent on 04:39 - Jul 19 with 2060 views | flykickingbybgunn | When they last went up and then immediately came down they bought a whole load of expensive plodders. Old blokes on very high wages who were just looking to top up their pension. Not all their business deals are profitable. And if you want to annoy a Budgie, and who on here does n't, ask them about Nasmith.

He’s hardly average, when fit he’s probably the best striker at this level. It’s his fitness which has been an issue/delight to see.

Whilst i agree to this to an extent.. since knapper came in, its been poor. Crnac 11 million euros - really poor player last season. They spent the whole of last campaign crying how bad he was. scored 7 largely unimportant goals in big wins against very poor sides. The budgies think he will come good this year, i just cant see it. Jurasek - 7 million euros. made 2 appearances last season to their bewilderment. huge question marks in terms of fitness for a 21 year old. Cordoba - 3.65 million euros. Made lots of mistakes last season and looks like hes been replaced already and likely on the subs bench this year. Forson - 4.5 million euros. described as lightweight and injury prone. managed 21 appearances at 22 years old. Give or take that's pretty much the fee for sargent that they spent on these 4 players. If you throw enough sh*t at the wall some will stick of course but based on their recent big buys I am not worried about them. I think they will probably fare better under manning. Kvistgaarden looks a good buy, but won't be an upgrade on sainz/sargent so could be another poor innings for our friends up the road. [Post edited 19 Jul 9:44]

I thought he was in The Monkees, not The Budgies? Similar levels of gravitas, I suppose.

Sargent on 12:17 - Jul 19 with 1104 views | radiogaga | 1. Sargent is a quality player, and only 25/ lots of development and resale potential. Norwich have coached him well. Quality demonstrated by volume of goals score even in an injury hit season. 2. If we get £40m for Omari off the back of 3 goals and 2 assists, is that luck? 3. £21m is really not crazy money in today’s markets.

Yup, in Sainz and Sargent, they will have lost half of the goals they scored last season. And that’s from a team that finished 13th. I’d argue there’s better teams in the league this year, a lot will come down to how quickly their manager can get replacements to click and if those replacements are good enough.

Let's hope it only takes them 40-odd games to click, eh! Quite honestly, I would love a season of us going up as Champions, them relegated, bottom of the table. Revenge for 2019

Yep agree(sadly!)...if he was ours we'd certainly want big money too, we all know his qualities and these strikers are in demand and hard to find..

Sargent on 19:03 - Jul 19 with 256 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | He’s a top striker at this level when fit, if he wants a chance of playing in a home World Cup then going to Europe makes sense, rather than sitting on the bench at Leeds or something. I was hoping they’d fall apart after Hoff but I actually think they’ve had a good summer unfortunately. Those two were always going but they’ve got some good players in and Manning is decent.
