Football fact on 04:09 - Jul 19 by flykickingbybgunn | But in any one season a quarter of the teams in any one of their leagues go up or down. So with odds like that it is hardly surprising really. At least it is not boring. Good for the Mariners. |
Not quite. Nobody is promoted from the top division. For the majority of Grimsby's history the bottom teams in the bottom (old Fourth) Division were reelected rather than allowing a new team into the League. And, for a relatively short period, teams could escape relegation by beating teams from the Division below in a Play-off. Then there was the period when Division 3 was divided into North and South, so two (bottom) Leagues had re-election. The rules, and numbers of teams promoted and relegated each season, have changed over the course of Grimsby's long history. But it would take an übernerd with a lot of time on their hands to work out the exact odds for each season, in each division, with the historically relevant rules, of Grimsby's history. And then compare it with all other teams. And then to calculate Grimsby's deviation from the mean. Surely somebody will take up the challenge?!?!? | |
