In tribute to Dolly, a silly question about clothes. 11:18 - Aug 11 with 1252 viewsgiant_stow

What's the fashion in Smart Causal business meeting suitable clothes for a 50 year old web designer? I'm a tramp by nature and only throw garments away when I can pass an arm though the holes in it - Covid (and video meetings) made things easy for the likes of me, but have a face to face coming up with a youthful agesist person. eek!

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Anything with Stone Island or Primark logo on - they're both the same.

The logo is the most important thing rather than the look/type for the youngsters under 60.

Away kit?

To summarise, a genial Norwich supporting regular on the forum has asked for fashion advice on his forthcoming meeting with some uptight rule bound millennial (i know, I know, the first three words are superfluous) that might affect his future earning power and is informed by (and by no means the most extreme partisan) Town supporters to wear the Kneecap balaclava, an Ipswich replica top, lederhosen, a Reebok trainer on one foot and a stiletto heel on the other.

Got away with it quite lightly really, hasn't he ?

Poll: What was in Wes Burns' imaginary cup of tea ?

3 piece suit, maybe a little flair for the cuff links, and a Windsor half knot would be acceptable.

Just wear what you want. If they can't take you as you are, do you even want to work with them?

The number of times I've adhered to a 'smart casual' dress code, and worried that my choice of smart black jeans wouldn't pass only to find people in blue jeans/shorts, t-shirt and trainers without anyone batting an eye, so next time I'm not going to bother.

I can’t remember where I heard this advice, never go for a job, if you have to buy clothes for the interview, but it sounded good at the time.

That's sound advice too! I'll check Binman opportunities... either that, or hope I can persuade them to take me as I am.

Sorted.

Don't go much on the lederhosen, full lunchbox highlighting lycra with the rest of your suggest outfit gotta be a winner

Spider-Man costume.

There was a wonderful letter sent to Viz celebrating the fact of the increase in child obesity,as gentlemen of shorter stature could now benefit from the lack of VAT on children's clothes. The author did note that he looked a bit of a tw@t in his new batman t-shirt but on the plus side he was a tw@t with a few extra quid in the back of his Super Mario shorts.

Not sure if this helps the OP but is food for thought.
