All three promoted clubs to go down? 14:32 - Aug 11 with 1326 viewsNthQldITFC

The obvious discussion about Leeds, Burnley and Sunlun, but looking at the chart on this page at the four times when all three sides stayed up, it's striking that there's one season where only two sides stayed up but the combined points score for the three is way ahead of all other seasons.

Not young 'uns would realise that the two sides who contributed so much to that were Town and Charlton, and the club that let the side down was Citeh.

Can't see all three getting relegated again. If they did it really would be a disaster for English football. The gulf id big but Leeds and Burnley have been there recently. I fear for Sunderland and suspect they will really struggle.

It would be typical Town luck that all three stay up and we miss out on promo, meaning that our 2nd attempt will be with less funds and against clubs swilling with prem players and full parachute money

I wouldn't be adverse to Burnley staying up. Sunderland are going to really really struggle and I suspect will crash and burn. Would love nothing more for Leeds to come back down too as can't stand their fans, and their manager

It’s looking like you have to be an obvious level above in your promotion season to stand a chance. Burnley would be that club for me from last season’s 3. They were rock solid the few times I saw them. The controlled the pitch and rarely gave teams a sniff anywhere near their box. But they struggled (relatively). We were never like that in 23/24. Burnley lacked the firepower last year, but I’d argue it’s easier to fix that with a couple of standout signings than it is to sure up a team that’s easier to play through.

We need to become a less porous team this year than we were in 23/24 to stand any chance in a return to the PL. And that’s assuming we go up. I’m far less confident about that after the Brum game. We can’t afford a slow start.

I think Bournemouth have sold their entire back 4 from last season, so they must be a contender for relegation. I would put Brentford and Wolves as the others who may struggle this season. Clubs like these are only 2 bad signings away from relegation.
Of the promoted clubs, I would say All 3 have a chance of staying up. Leeds are a PL club all day long and should be up there permanently. Burnley and Sunderland seem to have done good business, but who knows until we are 5 games or so in.
I will go for
Brentford
Bournemouth
Sunderland.

Very difficult to be sure of trends from that data. One thing that is interesting is that the last 3 teams to stay up have all done so for 3 seasons now.

I would like at least one of them to survive but then on the other hand I hope they all fail miserably because we didn’t manage it.

if we go up, it'd be useful for them to stay up, otherwise we'll be facing 17 teams with at least 4 years of prem money embedded in their squads

Why are Leeds a PL club all day long?

They clearly are not and that kind of statement makes a divide based on the size of fanbase, which is how I assume you judge it

Permanently - lets just make the PL a division where you can only go down if you are not a big city club

Really silly statement

Brentford losing manager and players , wolves lost their two best players, palace in the conference league.. could drag one or even two of those in to the relegation scrap..

All three back down again please. There were some rumblings from commentators last season and that will only increase, hopefully to a point where the EPL do something to help, if only to protect their product.

I'll not hold my breath though

I think Brentford will be a rest of how solid the premier league teams are. They've lost big players and manager so are vulnerable to an extent, but considering I didn't think that left them with much they still have a squad containing:
Kelleher, Nathan Collins, Van den berg, Ajer, pinnock, Lewis potter, Henry, Jensen, Damsgaard, Schade..... Etc etc and plenty in the bank to spend. Plus Henderson and Carvalho apparently, missed those.

Not saying they'll be fine but more that they'll potentially be like wolves last year where they are seen as bad rather than least best of the rest and actually pretty damn solid.

I just don't see any of the other PL teams being worse than those 3 over the course of a whole season.

I don't see it that way.

If all 3 are relegated 3 consecutive seasons it becomes a very worrying trend. As it stands, it is possible that the past two seasons are the outliers. Any two of the three could stay up. For me, if all three do and someone really unexpected goes down such as Man Utd or Everton, that shows the competition is still alive. The promoted sides would then have much more chance of staying up too and I would hope that we would be numbered among them.

My ideal scenario: Man Utd and Everton have a nightmare season, Palace are affected by Europe, Wolves and Brentford go backwards rapidly. Burnley bore their way to 20 nil-nil draws and a few 1-0 wins. Sunderland play with freedom, all their new signings click and they surprise everyone. Leeds are solid and get on a run that sees them safe. Utd go into meltdown, Moyes leaves Everton and they appoint badly. Both are relegated along with Palace. Wolves and Brentford cannot attract new signings and become relegation certainties for the following season. And then I wake up!

Realistically, there is a big danger for it becoming a pattern but I live in hope. Everyone thought Liverpool and Everton were always going to win the top flight. The Premier League came along and then no one could see past Man Utd then Chelsea. Then Man Utd again. Then it was Man City. And in amongst all that Arsenal, Blackburn, Leeds, even Leicester have had their turns. I live in hope.

Brentford are obviously looking considerably weaker this year, and Wolves’ continuation of cashing in on star players without reinvesting seems to have gone under the radar/ they might not be so fortunate this time around. The east bacon contingent that I speak with, as always to be fair, fear a long season but going down still seems a stretch. Leeds are the team of the 3 that has been considerably the most impressive on recruitment I think, although they need better than Piroe to lead the line really. Sunderland have put their chips in on a number of players being so good that a month of them all away at the AFCON won’t derail them.

Ultimately our luck has worked 2 ways, because this season we couldn’t wish for a better chance to go back up again. Only 3 other parachute teams, with Sheff Utd seemingly in disarray and with Leicester’s points deduction feeling like an inevitability in addition to having less spending wriggle room. Southampton feel like our biggest threat to me.
