And I think Gareth Southgate’s attire actually complemented his persona and intentions with the England team (raising standards and overall respect regarding representing England).

I'd go so far as to say that they ought, at the very least, to wear a cummerbund or "wesc't" and bow tie when they take to the pitch.
And at least three homegrown players should be smoking pipes.
Maybe wear a top hat too. Keep their heads warm in winter. A monocle would be a stylish addition.
Thinking of Motty style sheepskin coats my dad used to wear one in winter. It was like sitting next to a buffalo.
Odd fact: did you know that when Bavarians get kitted out with lederhosen, it’s never washed or cleaned. That’s why the old ones, like the bloke badly playing an accordion (sounded like he was squeezing the cat) in the square in Munich had massive crutch stains.
Enjoy your breakfast.

His attire *was* his persona.

Like Sir Bobby Robson did you mean? No I don’t find that weird in the slightest.
I appreciate why people bring up Sir Bobby
But, I'm really talking about now in the modern game, It' s something i've not really seen and just say the rangers boss and it just looked really odd against the rest
Kinda reminds me of how most mean wore top hats and long coats - you wouldn't see that out in the street nowadays. So i kinda get the Sir Bobby references, but it's a very different time now.
But im grateful for those that have reminded me of southgate, forgot his wastecoat look

Suits aren’t from a bygone era in the way that top hats are frimmers. Other than Dolly, I would imagine most people on here own a suit. Some will own several. I doubt any posters own a top hat.

In general though there has been a long term, generational trend away from formal dress in most aspects of life, not just football managers. Hardly anyone wears even a shirt and tie to the office these days never mind a suit. Even at weddings and funerals these days there will be a few who don't bother.
Which to me is a shame. Looking at old photos where even the working class men look dapper in their day to day wear, compared to the t-shirt, shorts and sliders standard of today, I tend to think we should go back to that.
Wouldn't be surprised these days if a man's first suit is more likely to be purchased / borrowed for a court appearance than anything else.

Modern Britain Frimmers innit. They all dress like wealthy architects watching their kids play on a Sunday morning. Absolutely haram but what you gonna do.
EDIT being Rangers boss is its own thing tbf, they have a massive picture of former queen Elizabeth in the dressing room. Managers there need to wear oxfords not brogues.
