The original Office is the best sitcom production of all time for me. Gervais in that, from a timing and character perspective is simply unmatched.
In fact it was so good , that his acting career took a while to develop when it came to new shows, as you couldn’t really unsee David Brent for a few years.
I enjoyed Extras and the a few of the others but it’s really, The Office and everything else.
Also must have been the last show that was watched by an entire nation at the same time on the BBC. Predating steaming and when terrestrial TV was still a real thing in the early 2000s.
If you listen to some of his pre office radio shows with Karl and Merchant, they’re pretty damn funny.

Yeah XFM he was very funny, as was the 11 o'clock show cameo spots he did pre The Office.
Just a very very funny bloke.
As you say though - The Office stands alone. 20+ years on I very rarely go a day without quoting The Office to one of my mates.
In fact just this morning I said to one friend, for reasons I won't go into, "it's not a sexual day".

He was the guest in Desert Island Discs and the main story I remember was that when his father died, he and his siblings met with the vicar to help the vicar prepare his eulogy.
One of Ricky’s brothers (Ricky has two brothers and a sister) couldn’t make the appointment so they lied to the vicar about the missing brother’s name as a joke. So, when the eulogy was read the incorrectly named brother was asking “who the f**k is Craig!?!?”
They also lied to the vicar about their dad and what he was like, saying he was a keen racist and hated everyone that would be attending the funeral.
He attributes much of his wit to the competition to be funniest person in their family growing up.
His appearances on the 11 o'clock show and his own short lived chat show (both late 90s) were very funny and pretty offensive.
I watched the first 20 minutes of the film Special Correspondents before switching it off a couple of years ago, and based on that 20 minutes alone I'd rank that as somewhere lower than 100 in your list.

Still got those xfm shows on file somewhere. Monkey news was always good fun. Must give them another whirl.
Some of the guests on Extras were brilliant. Their De Niro one was a classic.
Unbelievably I have probably not seen more than two episodes of The Office. I just didn't find it got it's hooks into me. I've actually watched more of the US version.
Extras I have watched through at least twice, it's top for me.
I loathe that man. He is utterly contemptuous. The only vaguely good thing he did was his radio show.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
1. Extras 2. The Office 3. Standup 4. Meet Ricky Gervais / 11 O'clock show. 5. The Invention of Lying 6. Life On the Road
Appreciate he's not a natural standup but I like the material. Everything else a little average other than Derek which i don't really like. I think i once saw a prototype where his performance of Derek was not coming from a good place, which he obviously turned round, but still.
I really enjoy his stuff. I think that Extras is better than The Office. After Life is also great but I’ve yet to see Derek. His hosting of the Golden Globes (think it was them) was also very funny especially the last one he did.
Life’s Too Short kinda gets forgotten but is very funny.
But, I did not particularly like The Invention of Lying that much.

Definitely watch Derek...easy to fall into the trap that he's taking the mick at first but if you stick with it and watch the characters fully emerge then it becomes a wonderful piece of television.

I have fallen into that trap but will definitely give it a go.
