We may need to be patient again tonight 07:49 - Nov 28 with 1150 viewsDubtractor

I'm assuming that Oxford's main game plan will be to frustrate us, and look to pick up something from a set piece or counter attack.

I'm certainly not expecting an end to end classic!

I think that was part of the frustration on Tuesday, the pre match billing was of Hull playing open attacking football, but that's not how the game played out.

Nah!!

If we aint 3 nil up inside 10 mins I'm going to come online rant that we aint good enough, the strikers are crap, the midfield is non extentent and defence cant defend, McKenna should be replaced and stop this fannying about playing the ball out from the back and that CoffeMug Man needs to do one

Hull were very negative against us. I think even on the road we're going to find teams generally trying to sit deep and frustrate us and trying to nick a goal from a mistake or a set piece. I think any time we can get an early goal there's a good chance we go on to give sides a thrashing but there'll be plenty of times we need to show patience and wait for the game to open up or use the subs to give us some impetus and get us over the line. We've been a couple of fluffed chances away from managing that in our two home draws, could easily be sat here on an impressive winning run otherwise.

Quite right. The only sensible approach under the circumstances.

Personally I'll be going one further and calling for Gamechanger to sling their hook.

Personally I have more patience when we are passing well, creating good chances and not scoring but in the first half on Tue night we kept giving the ball back to Hull and our attacks would break down far too easily. That’s when I became impatient.

Good plan. Make sure you get the rubber bedsheet on this time to protect the mattress. Im guessing it’s only just dried out from last Saturdays ‘defeat’.

Patience or not, the first half on Tuesday wasn't good at all, I had my own little grumble on here at half time.

The point is that the team stuck with it, improved, and ended up with a comfortable win.

Hopefully will be more open at home. They’ve dropped into the bottom three and needs the points. wouldn't fancy playing them at Portman Road as they will just shut up shop.

If they do play for a draw tonight then it is up to our more skilful players to come up with a moment or two of brilliance.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Its a no from me.

Take it to them, quick passes, mix it up if needed. But I hope the team wont be patient.

Fans maybe, but not the players.

Only basing this on what I hear from the Oxford fan on NTT20 but he mentioned that they started this season attempting to be more expansive but reverted to typical Rowett style when it wasn't working. I'd be surprised if they don't just try and replicate what Wrexham did but I think we'll get the luck / better finishing tonight.

Movement off the ball that was nonexistent first half at Hull is for me the key .

Agreed. I have heard a lot of people bemoan our build up play as slow and laboured. But it's not easy to attack at pace when the opposition have 11 men in their own half and are happy to sit back and defend without the ball. It was noticeable how much more fluid we looked Tuesday once we went ahead. This season won't be pretty in the way is was two seasons ago, we're a different prospect for our opposition now.

Actually glad it's an away game- teams sitting back at home will annoy their own fans rather than ours.

Atmosphere has been stinky at Portman road lately. Our away support has been much more patient and forgiving.

Yes, it's going to be a grind for sure. I know we'll make changes but it wouldn't surprise me to see someone like Clarke stay in so that Philogene can hopefully make a similar impact towards the end of the game. Clarke had really worn them down by that point and the change in dynamic certainly helped.

We'll see - it is not going to be a blockbuster game for Sky Sports, either way.

Rubber sheets are all very well but what about the duvet?

And what about the academy? If there are no U16s in the team then scrap that too.

In all seriousness... When I was a kid I worked on the stadium in the summer when we put the seats in. I really want to do a stadium tour for myself but when do you it! It's constant change.

Patience is a virtue, as my poem for Tuesday night's game attests;

Patience For The Patients

The love of my life
has had major surgery
and is still getting back up to speed.
A little patience is needed in these oft’ trying times,
for time is healing and should always be heeded.

And so has my girlfriend.

She went to Hell and back
with a terrible cyst.
Ipswich we went to Hull and back;
no first half assists.

When things seem a mess, trust the process.
The patients will tend to then mend.
This poem couldn’t find
a rhythm or rhyme
but like Town
it came good in the end.
