That’s a very fair assessment. The fact now we are a good chunk into the season and we still look a bits and pieces team. Liquorice all sorts, you just don’t know what you’re going to get from us. Tonight was yet another underwhelming display. [Post edited 28 Nov 22:00]

About a Month ago I came to the conclusion McKenna is not the man to get things right it's been 18 months of dross .

It’s an extremely poor league with some woeful teams that is masking our own deficiencies.

| We’re really not very good are we? on 22:22 - Nov 28 with 721 views | Guillermo_Edwards | We're very good in spells, but those spells aren't frequent or long enough yet. Yes, it's a poor league, which probably inflates our position currently. And watching Cov Bro highlights really brought it home how much better they are at the moment. Still, Cov lost to Wrexham and the Championship is wonderfully unpredictable (something many fans spoke up with nostalgia last season). I do think we're improving. It took some time before the golden team gelled and we got promoted from L1. It's a long season and we have a deep squad. I think we'll be up there, even if it's not the 100+ points champions story some fans appeared to be expecting. Maybe take a look at Southampton, Leicester and Sheffield Utd for some perspective. | | | |

Cov losing to Wrexham is a one off. For us, this happens on almost a weekly basis unless the opposition somehow manages to have an off day We have a squad that is the most expensive in the entire EFL. Yet 3/4 of the players seem uninterested and the manager is another stubborn character who persists with the same old like-for-like subs and formation every single match. Subs come on in the 65th or 70th min. J Clarke for Philogene or vice versa. It is so predictable the opposition managers must be laughing. Like tonight, he still chose to start the useless Hirst over Akpom in the 9 position. WHY?

Climbing the table due to the absolute dire league we’re in. We have 3 more points than Leicester who are 15th.. we have some difficult games coming up and if we’re not careful could easily be mid table in 1-2 weeks time.

If by "this", you mean lose a game, then it evidently does not happen to us on a weekly basis. Still, I think we can find some agreement. Cov losing to Wrexham is a one-off ... For now. Who knows by the end of the season though. Teams often storm ahead and run out of steam in January, hence why I feel positive about our deep squad. I certainly don't disagree that we're not where we expect us to be right now performance-wise, and I'm with you on Akpom starting (though Hirst was better tonight, and is still not getting the service). And it's obviously also true that we have the most expensive squad in the league. I just think it's a bit naive to assume throwing a new squad together will produce instant results. Big money signings does not an instantly cohesive team make. It does happens, but it's like one time out of a hundred. Given that, I'm looking for signs of gelling and partnerships, and I think there's increasingly more of them, just not producing the results every game we want. It'll take time, but I still think it'll come, whether in time to make play-offs this year we'll see. McKenna is predictable with his subs and tactics, but it produces results sometimes (Hull) and sometimes not, and I suspect the same could be said for any other manager in the league. What we lack is intensity and genuine quality to break up the bus parking, but that won't happen overnight. Oxford were shrewd tonight, and something of a bogey team for us. Let's see what we do against Blackburn.

Yep. By the same token, win two of our next three and we could be in the autos. Such is life

Which suggests that we are plenty good enough for this average league. We've really struggled to get to the expected level and yet we could've been second with a win tonight. [Post edited 28 Nov 23:11]

Look at the odds given by the bookies when they come out and tell me which team they favour. No guesses we aren't the favourites. Even vs Blackburn it will probably be evens.

Grasping at straws. When was the last time we caused an upset. Bournemouth away? How many times have other teams caused an upset to us? PNE. Boro. Charlton. Oxford. The list goes on. And I’m not even talking about draws which should have won like the hapless performance at home v Wrexham For the amount we spent on our squad and their supposed quality we are severely underperforming. Yet plenty here seem happy to find excuses for them and McK. Delusional.
