Not all on him as there is a certain mental fragility to this side when the chips are down; an unwillingness to put bodies on the line to get a result. But yes, with more ruthless foreign owners (Forest) McKenna would already have been moved on - promotion is the be all and end all this season and this league is particularly weak this year. For me its the fact we are trying to play the same out from the back, tippy, tappy walk it into the net possession based football which is yesterday's news now. McKenna was a master at it in L1 but the game has moved on again, we won't be able to do in the premier league, imagine how much better the press will force even more mistakes and the chance creation conversion we give away will be clinical.
I don't see a single player (perhaps Egeli in the future) that is of the standard we need to become what we are trying to achieve and you are right the tactics have been found out. It's so easy, have a bit of a press wait for someone to misplace a pass, seize the opportunity or like we saw yesterday when the left back is up front play a long ball down the side.
I really hope McKenna sorts it out and not calling for his head just yet but I am becoming increasingly frustrated. Looking at the teams we can't beat would suggest we're closer to L1 than PL.
I think McKenna needs to do what Burley did and get an experienced no 2 in. Remember the impact Houston made, all of a sudden we looked unstoppable. We should have more than enough for this league so something is clearly wrong. [Post edited 29 Nov 8:52]

This. It was a very frustrating result, it was pretty much a hit list of the issues that have been holding us back all season: lack of clinical finishing, poor decision making in the final third, sloppy in possession when chasing the game, and giving away soft goals when under no real pressure in the game. That said, we'd started to address some of those issues post-Charlton and were on a 6 game unbeaten run. Not far off 2 points per game since the transfer window closed. And all of that despite not finding top gear. Talk of getting rid of McKenna when we've been on an upward trajectory in the last couple of months is for the birds. There's stuff he needs to work on with the players and we need to keep improving, indeed we need to improve more quickly than we have been. But calling for the manager to go at this point is daft and a massive overreaction to last night's game. |  |

Call me naive, but it's just something about the double promotions playing incredible football, the calm, intelligent interviews, the way all the players of any Town side that have played under him love him, the way he clearly loves being here and has turned down offers from massive clubs to stay and see this project through, and his excellent working relationship with our CEO and ownership.
