| It's no earth shattering observation 09:16 - Dec 2 with 1271 views | muccletonjoe | But if we play as we have in the last two games, particularly the first halves, we will probably come away with a draw at best. Something or someone needs to inject , more pace , more urgency into our game , yes we have better players, but that counted for very little against Oxford , we negated most of our advantages by the way we played. | | | | |

And I'd argue that we played worse in that first half against Hull than we did at Oxford.

Agreed. Could easily have been ahead at the break against Oxford if we'd taken our chances, first half against Hull I'm not sure either side created anything. The myopic takes on here after every poor result are quite frustrating. Hull was a good win and a decent away performance overall after a turgid first half. Oxford we created more than enough chances to win the game but gifted them two very soft goals and failed to take our own chances. Frustrating but the narrative that we aren't creating and all we do is knock it about at the back doesn't really stand up to any scrutiny. We aren't playing as well as we'd like but there's some over the top takes on where we're at performance wise.

Too many players had an off day against Oxford. Despite that, we created enough to win comfortably. I've got a feeling we're going to put in a real performance tonight, so 1-0 Blackburn it is, probably.

The same Hull that went a beat Stoke a few days later!

I'd agree with this....the problem with Oxford was that shocker of a gift of a goal... whereas first half at Hull we created nothing. as others have said... we score plenty of goals... we create even more chances.... two small tweaks. 1. stop gifting goals to the oppo 2. take 20% more of our chances. and we'll be competing very hard at the top. if we can accelerate our attacking play as well, we'll be flying, but I think that will just come with confidence, and that will only come if we sort 1&2 out

| It's no earth shattering observation on 11:27 - Dec 2 with 834 views | MrPotatoHead | In keeping with no earth shattering observations we need to stop giving shit goals away. Going behind makes life very tough as opponents look to kill the game and sit in deep (credit to Oxford though, they did less of that). We've not come from behind to win this season and while we probably will at some point, it'll be the exception rather than the rule over the course. Clean sheets will determine our season. If we concede to a great goal then fine, so be it, but we generally haven't been so far. I will back us to score goals, only Cov & Hull have scored more than us and I think we've got another level or 2 to go yet. | | | |

Anyone can pick individual matches to either support or disagree with a particular argument. But, considering the outlay, the team is underperforming and not playing well consistently. Yes, there is still plenty of points to play for, but considering over 30% of the season has already been played, it does give us a good indication of the squad’s capabilities. I do think that KM will sort things out.

I'd say we have several levels to go up. The only good half I can remember was Portsmouth home. That is the minimum to the level we should vouch for. Yes we have had go 20 minutes here and there, but not much.

If anything it's the opposite, too many players scared of making mistakes and not instinctive enough in their play.

Perhaps. The reason I said that is the way we celebrated Leifs goal on Friday looked very odd to me. It looked a bit entitled and it looked like the kind of "there is plenty more of them to come this game". Watch the celebration back. It looks odd.

Agree. The result at Oxford was a shocker but in terms of the performance seemed like a step forwards, expect that to continue Vs Blackburn tonight and hopefully the result matches this performance this time.

I think thats a massive projection. I think it was more just. "RIght, we're back to where we should have been without that awful goal, now we go again". A bit like if you score one when you're 2-0 down, just pick up the ball, run back and get going.... jobs not done, sort of thing

Add to that we had more than enough chances to beat Watford and Wrexham too without playing particularly great.

We also very nearly went in 2-0 down against Oxford with a big chance at the end of the first half, I think that's the point. Until the chances are converted and the mistakes stop, the noise will get louder. Not like the goals we concede are worldies. Anyway let's pray for 3 points so this board doesn't become like the opening scene of saving private Ryan at 10pm GMT. [Post edited 2 Dec 19:04]
