| We’ll know exactly where we are 11:51 - Dec 2 with 557 views | itfcsuth | Come January 1st. I think there is so much work to do with this squad to be where we need to be BUT We do just sit 2 points outside the play-offs with a game in hand, on the face of it it’s not a horrendous position to be in at all. But the next month will tell us absolutely everything as to where we are as a group right now, and how well the building of Town 2.0 is developing, ultimate litmus test. Blackburn, Coventry, Stoke, Leicester, Sheff Wed, Millwall, Coventry I have vented frustrations with how certain things have been handled over the last 18 months, but if we can lay down a real marker of intent of the next month, I’ll be all in for Town 2.0. COYB! | | | | |

We're not good enough to slap everyone out of sight, nor are we bad enough to drop off too much. I think by 1st of Jan we'll be in a similar position as now, top 4 -6 with top 2 all to play for but far from certain.

Whether we can trust the recruitment team to identify the right players though, I am not entirely sure.

Hopefully we'll get a good win tonight and be right in the playoff mix. But let's not count any chickens. Right now we're 9th. 7th on PPG, granted.

Yes, while we're still on the coattails of 2nd the expectation and ambition should still be automatics. A win tonight would be good, get us to parity by way of games played and hopefully a win to push us up to 4th. The thing that gives me the most confidence is probably the sides above us. Were it Leicester, Southampton, Leeds types of previous seasons I'd think a 6 point gap feels insurmountable. No disrespect to the Stoke, Millwall, Boro's of the world but if we can't out pace them by a few points between now and May we don't deserve to finish above them.

It’s not going to be easy tonight. Blackburn are going to be right up for this after all the controversy around the original fixture. We need to seriously up our game if we’re going to get anything out of it!

We have a very good squad but not quite gelling yet and as such we are not scoring enough goals and getting caught on the break too often. Based on the above, being just outside the play-offs is not too bad, although compared to where we should be based on squad strength and money spent it is certainly nowhere near good enough, but no-one has ever got promoted on what the squad looks like on paper. Personally come Jan 1st, we have to be within 3-6 points of top 2, else I fear play-offs will be the best we can hope for.

Absolutely, they are going to be well motivated for this. Hope we have something a bit more than just well drilled tactics ! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

More about getting our front four (whoever they are) to connect and be more incisive. We need to get behind defences more and pressure teams for sustained periods of time. Big concern that after we scored v Oxford they looked the more dangerous team. Our buildup is slow and labored at times, it makes it very easy to play against .
