He has been a good manager but was awful in the premier league. Far too easily outthought. We were very lucky promotion season. We scored a lot of late goals and relied on a Leeds fall away. We finished second in league1 behind Plymouth with a very expensive league one side. Tactically I think he is really poor and not sure what we work on in the training ground as our players seem to get worse each week and seem more disjointed each week. |  | | |

He hit on something that worked. He inherited a very good set of players in League One. He chanced upon a strange lopsided formation that people didn't know how to play against.
He also had really strong leadership on the pitch. I don't think we can underestimate the influence Morsy had on McKenna's double promotion. Lets not forget the number of late goals he scored. Morsy was a winner.
The double promotion team was clearly not good enough for the premier league and he was forced to change it. But the recruitment has been erratic. We have no clear game plan. We persist with tactics that clearly do not suit the players we have. Constant team changes.
Its looking more and more likely that the double promotion was in spite of McKenna rather than because of him. This team is totally his and its really poor. | | | |

Missed out on most our main targets, so then wasted it all on McAteer, Akpom, etc.
Although Matusiwa, Kipre, Furlong, Azon, Nunez etc have done ok, they’re miles off Prem standard and wouldn’t get in many teams towards the top of this league.
The squad isn’t as strong as many think, a lot of players yes, but lacking real quality. |  |

Because we’ve switched a group of highly motivated, highly together players with a point to prove and desire to reach the top with a number (not all) of overpaid players who are here for the size of the pay cheque and little more. I can accept being outclassed but I can’t except being outran or outworked. It’s unforgivable and I feel a bit sorry for McKenna. Far too much change too quickly.
I’d like to see him grow a pair and leave 2 or 3 of the biggest culprits out of the squad. Start putting some faith in Humphreys, he’s played in the 10 before. |  | | |

100% agree with that. A great summary.
In fairness, McKenna did get a very good League 1 squad performing way better than Cook had managed. This somehow carried over to the Championship, with very few meaningful signings. So maybe McKenna is a decent coach, but has no idea how to assemble a squad? | |
