I don't think so at all. I don't think the two situations were comparable.
The coventry player kicked the ball away after some players had stopped playing and knowing ipswich wanted to take a free kick, it was tactical to prevent the other team playing their game.
Hirst was silly to kick it away, but it was from frustration and at the goal, not a tactical kick into the distance to stop the other team playing.

Most refs haven't booked a player when they're running onto a ball over the top and then flagged offside because its the moment of the player.
The Coventry player was booked because players on the ground and ref blew, player was walking to the ball and lobbed it. 2 completely different situations. |  | | |
