He is when he isn't a physical battle. His two starts in the "double pivot" were against Boro & Charlton, games in which I felt we overpowered by runners through the middle. When Nunez has space as a deep-lying "quarterback" he can be a joy, fully agree with you there.

Agree. I'd love him in a midfield three ideally but it doesn't seem likely.

| Nunez on 18:08 - Dec 6 with 1937 views | Nutkins_Return | Matusiwa with Cajuste and Nunez either side would actually be a really dominant midfield. But obviously that's. A big shake up system wise. I do think Cajuste has a big part to play and fully fit and firing can be a top player. | |

You cannot drop Taylor at the moment, he's helping out Matusiwa much more than Cajuste does. The midfield is looking more solid with Taylor & Matusiwa

Id love to see him stop playing with a 10 and play all 3 together, with Matu sitting, Nunez dictating and Cajuste making forward runs. We can live in hope.

Yes, that feels right, and I think Egeli has the calmness to play in the central 10 role already.

Very close stylistically to the all-time greatest Town midfield: Cajuste as the Thijssen-lite dribbler, Nuñez as the Muhren-alike visionary pass maker, and Matusiwa in the middle like John Wark, winning the ball for the other two and stopping opposition breaks. Just without his incredible box-to-box impact, perfection in timing late runs, and finishing deadlier than most strikers.
| Nunez on 20:24 - Dec 6 with 1518 views | Kieran_Knows | Brilliant today. Still don’t think long term he’s a number 10, but he’s the closest thing we’ve had to Chaplin in the way he links the play for us, so for me, has to start in the 10. | |

Matusiwa is no John Wark, sorry! For one thing he hardly ever gets into the opposition pen area. IMO the MF is much better with Taylor alongside Matus, even though Jens is probably a better player.

Definitely think egeli will end up as a 10. He’s got that way about him. His layoff to leif for the cross that led to his eventual goal was excellent.
| Nunez on 21:26 - Dec 6 with 1252 views | itfc_bucks | Frustrated the daylights out of me. Capable of sublime moments like that outside of the boot, first time pass to wide left (can't remember who was on the end of it -Davis possibly?) But equally capable of a wild thrash over the bar when a tiniest bit of composure sees him play in a teammate or guide home himself. Still feel he has the look of a competition winner about him... | |

Yeah I agree, can’t get on board with all the plaudits. 6/10 today, maybe? He always has a few wonderful moments but he was completely absent in the first half and certainly isn’t a fit in the ten hole - no pace, and the couple of times players tried to drop a long ball onto his head were ridiculous. Good for free kicks and very occasional long passes (the first time outside of the boot was gorgeous), but very much a luxury player imo.

Indeed, felt SWE looked exceptional again, Philogene did a lot of the dirty work today, tracking back and breaking things up - delighted to see this addition to his game. Matusiwa was bang on, Kipre looked rock solid and if you'd told me three months ago that Jack Taylor had become the glue that held it all together, of have asked what you were drinking, so I could get some. Think of he hadn't come from down the road, he hasn't made quite the song and dance out of it and it hadn't boiled their urine quite how it did, he might not be thought of quite so highly. Still, not to be negative after spanking the runaway leaders...

But then again, he's 19, there's a long way to go!

That's literally what I said: without his box to box impact, timing of runs and finishing. Just the defensive part of Wark's game, which was important because Frans was bad at tackling and it wasn't really a part of Muhren's game.

What gives you the impression that Chappers could deliver this? He didn't all last season, he didn't from January onwards in the season we went up and he hasn't done it on loan at Pompey. Love the guy, but he's not the answer.
