I personally don't have too much of a problem with what woolfy said about playing expensive assets ahead of home grown talent. Let's be honest we want to make profit ala Hutchinson and Delap. That is part of our model.

The issue for Luke is that the only contender for his position, O'Shea, was never going to be dropped as captain, and Kipre could play on both the right and left, so subject to injuries Luke would never have made the bench this season. |
His only chance would have come is if we had reverted to a 3 at the back; and that was not going to happen. And Wolfy leaving probably means we have no intention of playing a 3. O'Shea seems bombproof, does he ever miss a game? |  | | |

His actions outline his shortfall in professionalism and maturity. I know a number of fans thought he was right to call out Goodman when we got promoted but decent players with class and etiquette let their football do the talking. That was a red flag to me with his public behaviour. |
I do agree. It's not right that he's 'unprofessional'. Clearly in those years we went up he went about his job professionally. But he's very laid back and into all the 'bantz' and was very much comfortable being a local lad for his local club which is absolutely fine and he's lived out most of our dreams.
But I've always felt he lacks proper elite focus and drive. He's someone that seems can go into a comfort zone very easily and when the chips are down he'd still be having a laugh and joke. All fine but you get things like what he said in the press conference, the goodman thing (I don't know how true the team leaks coming from him are so won't include that as fact) and comments from previous managers about him needing a kick up the arse sometimes I just think it might have held up his potential a bit. The flip side is maybe his laid back nature was sometimes a strength in his composure on the ball.
What he isn't is better then what we have and I think it's the right move for all for him to move on. He'll always be a bit of legend for us now as local boy doing back to back seasons. But he did taint it a bit. | |
