Preston result tonight 08:03 - Dec 9 with 1234 viewsKungfuBlue

Do we want a Preston win tonight even though that puts them 3 points above us and further strengthens their play off ambitions, whilst at the same time putting a decent dent (assuming we win Wednesday) in the gap Coventry had on us over the last 2 games?
Or a draw slowing both down still giving us a chance to make some points up on both if we win Wednesday?

In these situations I think a draw in other matches suits us best as we have the potential to gain 2 points on both sides above and directly below us.

Yes, Preston win all the way for me.

I'm confident that our quality, improving cohesion and the depth of our up-to-speed, injury-free squad (how did that happen?) will give us a very good chance of overhauling Boro and Millwall and staying ahead of the rest, including Preston.

Another defeat for Coventry with their relatively thin and somewhat injury-hit (unrotated) squad, brings them within range of us, and rather pisses on their gooseberries.

Preston all the way. We want Coventry/ Boro to come right back to the pack.

Preston going 3 points clear of us is far less concerning.

Either way, none of it matters if we cant be consistent.

Yes. Respectfully to Preston I think they’ll be one who drops off slightly, I’m not too worried about them. Boro, Cov and probably Southampton picking up as few points as possible can only be a good thing right now.

At this stage no idea how many points needed for automatic promotion. The more draws, between possible challengers, the better.

Keep an eye on Sheffield United for a play off spot. They should give their goal difference a boost this evening, at home to Norwich.

Unless it is already March and the finish line is somewhere in sight, I'm not too bothered. Just concentrate on our performances and see where we stand when the crocuses are blooming. However logically it would be better to see Cov lose in the hope we can challenge them as I can see Preston not sustaining their run and fading a bit anway.

Think we very much want a Preston win. Coventry have lost their best players to injury, they looked absolutely smoked in the second half against us, gone behind in four of their previous six games - they could be in a tough spot now and we want them to endure a bit of pain, really. The closer it all is, the better for us - we don't want one team running away with it.

I'd prefer a Preston win. I'm convinced that Coventry are the team we need to catch and it won;t do us any harm if they get beaten again and start to question themselves a bit.
