What are the equivalent Ipswich versions of that, where a current player lays into the club?

There were one or two veiled comments during the Hurst and Lambert eras, particularly after players left, but I can't remember an example of a still-at-the-club senior player having a go?

The nearest I remember is Roy Keane mocking the club in his autobiography.

I think a youth player once tweeted that he was glad to being released at the end of the season. which Paul Jewell retorted by stating that he can leave there-and-then.

Didn’t Adam Webster take a pop at h th e club after he left - could be wrong on this.

I remember a Woolfy post match interview, probably under Lambert, where he stopped short of sharing his views but was alluding to things. IIRC it was filmed on the pitch near the tunnel and he was clearly and visibly pissed off and upset with things.

Was he unhappy with the politics at the club at that time?

Just doesn't happen does it, anything said would be behind closed doors. We just don't have loose missiles in any of our teams . And nowadays with media briefing lessons etc.... I think if Sky etc were to interview players after the match from the losing rather than winning team, in the heat of the moment we would hear a lot more candid stuff. But that is never going to happen. Would be much more fun than hearing how well the MOM has done.

Carlos Edwards saying some of the team needed breastfeeding (!!!) during terrible Jewell period.

Richie Wellens on us losing and it not hurting players.

Shane Supple probably the saddest one. Didn't he say that the players didn't care and would rather not go up?

He virtually had tears in his eyes he was so frustrated. I think with the silly mistakes we were making. He really cared.

Was ridiculous to hear some (thankfully few!) boos for him on Sat.

I vaguely remembered Wellens going in on his teammates, it was even more brutal than I realised -

Wellens: Town Players Don't Care 29th Oct 2012 09:08
Loan midfielder Richie Wellens laid into Town’s permanent signings after Saturday’s dismal defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, claiming he and his fellow temporary signings are the only ones who care. Caretaker-manager Chris Hutchings similarly pointed the finger at players in his post-match press conference after the game. 139

He wasn't wrong, I guess this is easier to do when your loan is ending soon after.

Pretty brutal. He was right to call it out. I remember feeling better that at least someone was saying it. Brave of him really.

Easier probably, but also even more respect for doing it. The easy thing to do would've been to not say anything and head off back to Leicester a few weeks later, he really didn't have anything to gain from it personally. He was excellent in that short spell for us.

I remember that game quite clearly. I was thinking that is was as if the players had decided that they wanted to make sure Hutchings didn’t get the job and collectively downed tools.

Good players, who you could rely on to give their all strolled through that game.

Some of them (inc. Chops, Paul Taylor and Emmanuel-Thomas) had gone out drinking after the news broke that Jewell was leaving.

Wellens was right to wade in on them. The players had given up. I was at the Wednesday game and it was a disgrace from the first whistle, much like the Wednesday game at the end of Lyall’s time in 93 when Carlton Palmer walked through our whole team like Roy of the Rovers to score without anyone bothering.

That was the first time ever I left a game early. If they couldn’t be @rsed, why should I? Same with the Wellens game.

I can live with us being cr@p. Most of my time following them they’ve been cr@p. Incompetence, farcical goals, boneheaded players getting sent off, Nouble running about like a puppy off the lead, Douglas not running at all…… that’s ok. But not giving 100%? Can’t be bothered? Refusing to train? Totally unacceptable and anyone who does that is toast to me.

That 3-0 Sheffield game still annoys me as does Carlton Palmer’s slow motion Maradona impression.

he wasn;t wrong - and Mick did come in a change things.

The really sad thing is that pretty much the same thing happened a few years last before Paul Cooke did his demolition man thing.

It's all a reminder that the club has completely changed culture in the last 4 years.

But the Salah outburst was much more "woe is me". He has assumed that his personal profile, value and position with the fans meant that he could use the media to influence how he is treated. I think that is utterly out of order and I think he has overestimated how far his "legend" status will help him with the fans

I really cant think of an equivalent situation at Town - I cant think that we just have had that sort of player. The Wellens response was a real "tell it how it is" moment, but I dont think that was for similar selfish reasons

Salah will be judged harshly - and rightly so

That's true - Sereni is perhaps the best example of a woe is me outburst - asked not to play against Dagenham in the FA Cup, then didn't win his place back in the team, and accused the club of not respecting him:

Supple said it when he had gone, I think. Exposed a wretched dressing room attitude.

I thought Carragher's come back to Salah pretty brutal, but true.
