Struber wants VAR in the Championship 14:50 - Dec 9 with 651 viewspingu67

Please no, one of my real hates from last season. It felt so weird not knowing if a goal was going to stand whilst the Refs would take ages deliberating over decisions

He can perhaps want it as much as anyone else but not all clubs could / would be able to afford it would they ?

A "Yo-Yo" League 1 / Championship side with very small revenue and smaller gates would find it hard to justify unless subsidised maybe

I'm sure he'd have been just as vocal had his side benefited from that decision.

I'm assuming it would have to be voted in by a majority of clubs, hopefully it won't get voted in

One of the main reasons I Haye the Premier League. Along with the lack of any meaningful competition for the top 5 or 6. And the stupid "razzmatazz " at the start of the game.

It seems some Championship clubs can't even afford decent floodlights, same of these games are almost played in twilight in some parts of the pitch

I see people saying there's a lack of competition in the Premier League a lot recently, but the last two seasons I don't see how you can really back that up.

Palace are currently 4th and Sunderland are 2 points off 5th.
Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle are in 10th, 11th and 12th. All 'massive' clubs.

Last season Forest finished one point off 5th place. Surely that's the definition of competition?

Obviously you're correct to detest VAR, it just goes without saying at this stage. It would absolutely kill the Championship.

We should absolutely have a lite version of it, for offside checks, to be honest. It's not popular but there's not a huge reason to not at least have that part of the tech,.

I can absolutely see Sunderland falling away, though they'll probably finish between 14th and 16th

Burnley look down already and Sunderland could well suffer second season syndrome but time will tell

VAR is a cancer on the game and anyone advocating for it is not a serious football person.

Agree, think they should invest in referees to pay them more for the abuse they get instead.

I can handle referee mistakes, they only get abuse so we can make ourselves feel better really. We just turn into morons. I think they generally do brilliantly given the circumstances and first glance decision making.

I can't handle VAR ruining the emotions of the game (and then still getting it wrong....it's getting messed up at PL level, imagine the hilarious decisions in the champ!)

Not a great idea at Ewood, water and technology don't tend to mix.

I supported the introduction of it but my biggest issue with it is that it hasn't improved the accuracy of the final outcome. It has simply added an extra level of subjective interpretation. If it is to work at all, it needs to only involve clear and obvious errors and be virtually instantaneous. Things like where there was a player offside or onside but the referee's assistant failed to register they were there. Or a clear deliberate handball in the penalty area that wasn't seen. Or an off-the-ball incident. Things that were clearly not seen properly by the officials on the pitch at the time and don't need minutes of slowing down, replaying, pondering, etc to decide.

Ultimately, as it stands, we are better off without it altogether. Let officials make mistakes just like the players do. The pundits will argue over the outcomes VAR or no VAR.
