Sheffield Wednesday's take over has collapsed 17:26 - Feb 25 with 901 viewstonybied

They were a bunch of proper knobs when we were both challenging for League One promotion, and I found it hilarious that that season almost ended in disaster for them, and their following struggles the season after were just as amusing. I really do feel for them at the moment though.

Putting rivalry aside, they are a decent sized club, rich with history, and it's saddening to see them in so much trouble due to a reet dodgy owner rolling the dice and losing it all. I hope they get a new takeover in place quickly, and can start putting a recovery plan in place, sooner rather than later.

The BBC article sounds as if the second-placed bidder is still keen, so hopefully they'll be willing to follow through on their interest.

It's a shame that the first bidder got cold feet, especially when the outcome of this season was all but guaranteed. Although fair play (I guess?) to them for bankrolling the club's losses over the last couple of months.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

The money required to run a football club is massive. As we know the Premier League requires certain things over and above the other divisions.
In cases like Wednesday and of course Town who went through administration and then the years Marcus Evans bailed out even though he still owned the club in that he ceased to provide enough money to properly run the club.
Even when Gamechanger came in they had a £32 million cost along with the purchase price.
Financing the overhaul of the ground and the training facilities and permitting the manager to purchase many millions of pounds worth of players.
Makes you wonder how they propose to make money out of it although they have already secured other investors and will look to achieve Premier League status, finance the building of a new Cobbold stand and eventually look to cash in on their investment.

3 years ago today they were 8 points clear of us, with a game in hand and with a goal difference seven goals better than us. Not really talked about enough just how ridiculous our end of season run was. A tsunami of excellence.

The 25p in the £ for creditors or a 15pt penalty for next season is a real kicker though. As we know from experience, lots of those owed money will be local small businesses and will need the money (if they've managed to survive the administration cut off of cashflow) but it's really holding a gun to the head of the new owners alongside sweeping up Chansiri's mess.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I think that was the only time I really really disliked the club … it wasn’t even their fault really either…. But it felt like a cultural moment of change in the relationship between the club and the town.

Poll: Scottish clubs, by unwritten law we all have one, which one is yours ?
