This is another great example of the smear campaign against him. He’s having to apologise for using the wrong word whilst you’ve got: - A PM actively supporting an ongoing genocide - A party leader who’s accepted a £5million donation from a crypto millionaire from another country - An opposition who people have turned their back on because of their disastrous record in government with a leader who believes not all cultures are equally valid None of which are getting anywhere near the level of coverage that is being aimed at the Green Party. Luckily people are far more switched on to it now and able to see it for what it is.

Good, refreshing, isn't it, when people are honest and embrace their mistakes and don't just deny everything - again, he says "I used the wrong word", is there more than saying "we"? I don't know, and it's an utter irrelevance and not worth trying to find out. But the relentless hard headline grabbing attempts of irresponsible pathetic whataboutery attacks for something as trivial as this are just so utterly, transparently anti-politics. They remind me of the obvious, despicable tactics of IDF spokespersons during the obliteration of Gaza.

Oh give over. Used the wrong word. Refreshing when people are honest. He hold a blatant lie. You’re backing a fraud. “As a spokesperson for the British Red Cross, I care deeply about ending racialised policing and have been calling for an end to the phoney war on drugs.” https://www.jewishnews.co.uk/z Listen if you are happy to support a liar then that is entirely your own business. But please don’t bend over backwards trying to excuse it. And why are you tring to shoehorn Gaza into this? Despicable deflection. [Post edited 6 May 9:14]

As I said I hadn't seen that quote, I hadn't looked for it, and I deliberately left the door open for that, not knowing exactly what was to come. So yes, you can call that a lie. But is it a deliberate lie, is it manipulative lie, is it not just something close to saying "As someone who hosts fundraisers for the Red Cross and supports them and their aims and speaks to people at these fundraisers in support of the Red Cross." It just seems that such a series of concerted manipulative personal attacks are being engineered on Polanski at the moment, and it makes me sick that people want to dive in on that. The IDF spokesperson analogy may not be very wise on my part but I'm speaking honestly when I say that that's the sort of engineered deflection that this puts me in mind of.

If the Green party - or more broadly 'The Left' don't want media going after them like this, then maybe they should stop jumping into bed with/courting the votes of groups of people who don't know the difference between criticising Israel and going after British Jews with firebombs and machetes.

Who are these groups that they are courting / getting into bed with? There are some scumbags who will vote, campaign, run for the Green Party. There are some scumbags who will be around you at football. There are some scumbags who will vote, campaign, run for Labour, the tories, reform, the Lib Dem’s, all of them because that’s the nature of life and the world unfortunately. The key thing is calling out those people and dealing with them appropriately which they seem to be doing a reasonable job of to me. They can get better at it, as can all of the other parties, but it seems that there’s a far higher level of scrutiny towards them than anyone else

People have been claiming that the Green party don't actually push 'green' policies anymore. But in fairness to them they are recycling all the rancid old antisemites from Corbyn's Labour party.

there's something of the fantasist about him. he reminds me just a little of russell brand - when he's moved on from the greens he'll pop up pushing shape shifting aliens or will very publicly find fundamentalist religion of some sort.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

A fair point, the Trumpian example would be just as valid in terms of mechanics, but I'm sure you wouldn't try to deny that the attacks on Polanski are in significant part motivated by his vocal condemnation of the actions of the IDF and the Israeli regime, so it seemed a more pertinent comparison, sensitivities notwithstanding. edit: Just registered your 'at me' in there. I try to play the ball and not the man at all times, sorry if it came across differently ref, but I'll humbly take the yellow card if applicable. [Post edited 6 May 11:02]

I don't know if it's a class based thing tbh, so much as a centrist one. Greens are doing quite well in traditionally middle class areas, many of the people arrested on pro-Palestine marches and present at other progressive marches would be deemed "middle class", and the overlap of middle classness and environmental politics is not new.
