| Reason the 2 Party Politics is finished 11:04 - May 9 with 2098 views | onceablue | The majority of the population is sick to the back teeth of the Labour and Tory parties. They have both told lies over the last 26 years and very few people trust what they say. Too many scandals have happened and I think the Mandelson episode was the last straw. I was speaking to my financial advisor recently and I asked him what the financial implications would be of a reform government and his view was ‘they can’t be any worse that the Tories and Labour’ This country and the World is in the biggest mess ever and I guess many people’s views when voting Reform is exactly because of the above It doesn’t help Labour that Starmer has got the personality of a frog and is also a globalist. If Starmer had his way he would rename England to Everybodiesland Just to clarify I did not vote Reform this week | | | | |

You sure know how to have a good time . Having said that, I literally watched paint dry this week as I took a door outside to paint it and then noticed loads of flying bugs about. So I sat there for two hours with a few mugs of coffee on bug watch while it dried lol

Why are Labour 'toxic'? Why are the Greens 'loons'? Why are the Liberal Democrats 'not a serious option'? They seem very serious and sensible to me. If you hate politics don't vote. If you care about the future of your country try and find a party that most fits your views, there must be one. We've got at least six to choose from! |
I hate party politics. I hate how every party prioritises their own power over the country. I hate the tone the politicians deliver their scripted answers. Labour are toxic with a big chunk of the country. You only need to glance at an opinion poll or have a quick look on Twitter to see it. The Greens come out with something stupid nine out of ten times they speak publicly. I realise this goes a bit again the scripted answers point but they are a joke when it comes to NATO, open borders and the economy. Liberals just seem to merge into the background. What do they stand for? I'd rather hear a policy than see another stunt. I care about the future of the country but not going to be told to vote just because we 'should'. When it comes to the GE I will vote for whoever can stop Reform. Hopefully Labour, but would vote Green if I absolutely had to.

I understand your dislike of party politics, we live in a representative democracy and our system should mean that you can go to your member of Parliament (and I can talk to my member of the Scottish Parliament, if you live in London or Manchester you might be lucky enough to have a line into your quite powerful mayor) on a serious matter and get that considered, maybe even for a question in the House...or for policy formation. I spoke to both my MSP (who remembered me from the last time we met, I don't know if that a good thing) and my MP in person on different aspects of the same matter yesterday, they both know I am a Labour Party member and neither of them are Labour but we had sincere and constructive conversations, in fact my Lib Dem MP has asked me for an update email...that's going to take me hours to put together. So representative democracy is alive and functioning, in fact I've known it to be for the last fifty years, but we do need party politics with policies and manifestos so that people have something like a clear idea of what they are likely to get over the coming term when they vote at a General Election, and to that end I have gotten in on one of Labour's National Policy Forum initiatives to contribute what I can. I'm not yet six months a Labour member but it is making a big difference to how I view where we are as a state and what can be done to improve things, and I think activities like knocking on doors for canvassing are have a positive social impact for me too.
