Safe standing is being introduced across the lower tier of the Sir Bobby Robson North Stand, increasing the capacity of the area. As part of the work to facilitate the installation of the safe standing area, seating for disabled supporters will be introduced across the very front of the stand. This will result in a small number of necessary seat moves for existing season ticket holders.

So does that mean the front row seats like Aera 5 row A to be removed and ST holders to be moved? Hope not, I have been there for 20 years +

Yes, you'll likely be moved up to where the disabled section currently is/was.

Well, I haven't had any email from the club as yet, so until I do, I will just imagine I won't be moved.

Is the new disabled seating section going to be a proper tiered raised. wheelchair section like Man united or the same old make shift pitch side struggle to see over the wall situation, poor sight lines , railings metal bars in the way , also does this mean increased disabled capacity season tickets etc?

The light blue cars were called Invacars. They were designed in 1946 for disabled ex-servicemen but the schema was later expanded to civilians. They were made of fibre glass by AC and Invacar Ltd and had a wide range of controls that could be fitted for individual needs.

They were banned in 2003 due to safely concerns crash and scrapped. Few remain.

Never knew any of that thank you.

I'd never actually thought about it before to be truthful but they were certainly part of the landscape at football in my youth.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Could the long term plan to have the away fans at the Sir Alf end of the West Stand? They could then use the current parking for away coaches.

I wouldn't have thought so.

Police will want away fans where they are now for easy access to the station, even when the new stand is built.

Lower tier of sir alf will be safe standing for the majority of the away fans.

How will safe standing increase the capacity in the lower North? I'm guessing it's not just as simple as replacing the existing seats with rail seating. Are they reconfiguring the concrete and reducing the depth of each row?

Not a chance they'd do that, every club out there has shifted away fans to a corner..
