That's being ridiculous, Hurst would be rubbish in the holding midfielder role.

| Crap selection on 15:14 - May 22 by pointofblue | I'd have: Butland or Pope instead of Trafford (sorry, but if you're not starting games for your club you shouldn't be playing for your country) Alexander-Arnold for Toney (if you want to take a third striker then Calvert-Lewin or Welbeck will be better suited anyway) Maguire for Stones (see Trafford) Hall for Spence (no idea what Tuchel's adoration for Spence is about) Shaw for Burn (better cover at LB if we need to move O'Reilly into midfield) Wharton for Henderson (think Wharton would offer us more at this stage) Bowen for Madueke (think Bowen has more experience, plus Madueke blows hot and cold) Gibbs-White for Eze (tough one this, but considering Gibbs-White's performances this season he deserves a place, and I think he is more consistent than Eze) |
Absolutely this 💯 | |

Not sure the relevance of the fees paid for the players. How do they compare to those who are going anyway? Surely, the only thing that shows is that standard Premier League players cost £20-50M now doesn't it? I would imagine one of the reasons that Toney is included is his penalty taking.

It was Maguire or Stones. For me Maguire edges it but I'm not bothered either way. The last England manager to be as brave as Tuchel was the late great Sir Bobby Robson so it's a thumbs up from me. Can I get excited about England though? I always do a bit nearer the time but they're very frustrating at times. Come on England.

Yeah agree with this. I’d have Wharton for Mainoo and Bowen for Madueke but the fuss about Foden and Palmer is a fuss about nothing.

That would have worked if you had typed meguire!

| Crap selection on 14:18 - May 23 with 107 views | OldFart71 | Foden has been pretty useless all season, bit surprised with Palmer as I think he is very good. Maguire has been a legend at Man Utd and been pretty useful for England. But with many of the Countries we come up against they will have very mobile forwards and although Maguire uses his technical ability he may be now a bit slow. We will no doubt have our hopes on the up and then dashed as usual. | | | |
| Crap selection on 23:30 - May 23 with 47 views | armchaircritic59 | Understandable from Tuchels point of view for two of them at least. When not injured, Palmer's done little this season apart from about one match. Foden has been in and out of the City side. Maguire I might have taken personally, he's seldom let England down and the risk taken with Stones who when 100% fit ( not often! ) is certainly a better player is well known. | | | |
| Crap selection on 23:38 - May 23 with 40 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | Hear me out. We have a plan this time. In the Euros we were literally experimenting going into the tournament. I think Rice had about 4 different partners. I don’t agree with no MGW, Lewis Hall, Wharton or Maguire with what was picked ahead of them. I’d have also taken Palmer even in dodgy form. BUT He has picked runners behind Kane, which makes sense, rather than say planting Foden left 10. I think it brings Kane more into games. He’s gone for more of the McKenna like for like approach in the squad. We won’t have much of a plan B though or many moments players on the bench so let’s see what happens. This lot might have a chance if they can handle the heat and stay fit. [Post edited 23 May 23:39]
