| Players who were rubbish but you liked 10:25 - May 23 with 3230 views | Churchman | His name cropped up on another thread. I give you dear old Frank Nouble. He’s 34 now and had a long professional career which is let’s face it, a real achievement. However for us in the Championship he was truly hopeless. Big, fast, eager. Like a puppy off the lead in the park, off he’d go. Nobody knew where and you always hoped somebody would tell him which end to head for. On one occasion he was put through just over the half way line. And after half a dozen paces heading for goal………fell over. We laughed. Frank was such an endearing character and you had no idea what he was going to do next. When he warmed up as sub, ‘here comes Frank’ would be shouted. ‘The answer to our prayers’’go get em Frank, they’re terrified’ and so on. 4 goals in 56 appearances. Let’s be honest, he wasn’t the best forward I’ve ever seen, but he was worth the entrance money. The other one I liked was Gus Uhlenbeek. Never seen anything like it. Built like a middleweight, ran like a rhino with toothache. Sadly, straight ahead was his only option. On the charge he was virtually unstoppable. Thank god there was a stand at either end otherwise he’s still be going. At the end of the charge would come the cannonball shot. Like a flippin missile. Would it decapitate somebody in the crowd? Where in the stand would it go? Would it go over the roof to Coes? One thing for sure, the net was rarely an option. I really enjoyed watching Gus. He was pretty terrible really, but I see he made 94 appearances for us and scored as many as dear old Frank, so maybe I’m being harsh. | | | | |

Came on for (Ballon d'Or winner) Stoichkov I believe? Now Hristo was quite the player, but never scored an overhead kick against Blackburn at Portman Road as far as I can remember...

One of the highlights of that era of ITFC (there weren't many)

Fell over corner flag and put the ball out for a goal kick, never to seen again. Halcyon Times.

Skillful he wasn't. But he gave his all.

Problem was, after that, poor old Bontcho tried to do that every game. You'd see the ball heading his way and rather just tap it in, he'd immediately turn his back to goal and try to do his Blackburn thing again.

| Players who were rubbish but you liked on 12:21 - May 23 by burnbudgiesburn | Bit harsh this one maybe but .... Macauley Bonne Very limited, was at the peak of his powers for half a season with us and actually didn't do badly at all. You could tell he loved wearing the shirt and that he got a chance here. I will look back fondly at his time, and his like was very much needed in trying to bond with a complete new set of players after the bomb squad. I do still shudder there were quite a few Town fans who said we should have stumped up QPR's asking price of £2m |
Loved Bonne Scored some cracking goals And the Sheffield Wednesday thing was brilliant

| Players who were rubbish but you liked on 22:14 - May 23 with 331 views | judespiveyg | Ali Al-Hamadi. Runs around like a headless chicken, worst penalty taker I've ever seen, limited technical ability but on a few occasions in the second half of 23/24 he really did cause a bit of mayhem, Bristol City at home springs to mind. Also gave his absolute all every time he played for us. Would have loved him to have got a Premier League goal, but looking back its incredible that we were bringing him on for Liam Delap regularly in the first half of 24/25. | |

| Players who were rubbish but you liked on 00:50 - May 24 with 260 views | Coastalblue | It would be unfair to call him rubbish as he was very skilful and decent with a dead ball too, but if Darren Currie even had enough pace to beat a four year old in a foot race he would have been some player. Forced to beat the same defender multiple times as the guy would just recover, jog past him and then defend against him again. I loved him. | |

I did consider the Curriemeister but you are right. He was actually a good player and skilful too. If only somebody had told him not to wear those divers boots.
