Available for around £10m - £15m, he does fit the profile of someone we would like to play in the double pivot; excellent at retaining possession & with his distribution, so would make a good partner for Matusiwa. He's just unproven at Premier League level I guess.

Louza and Matusiwa pivot wouldn't be good enough at prem level.
Louza is a good player, wasn't as good 2nd half of the season but not someone we should be going after imo. |  |

In terms of a starting XI player, the brutal truth is that we need someone as good as we were hoping Kalvin Phillips would be, rather than a player as good as he turned out to be.
None of which is intended as a comment on Louza, who I certainly rated when I saw him play. But I just think we must minimise our "can he step up?" risks to a small handful.
Having said that, beggars might not be able to be choosers. Maybe a player like Louza is the limit of a team who can't quite snag a Hackney, unless we have developed a really successful overseas scouting network. |  | | |

Unfortunately such is the nature of the PL, that beggars can usually book a return ticket back you know where. What I would call intelligent ambition is called for. Right players ( of PL quality ), right price and right fit for the club. Easy to type, probably not quite so easy to deliver, but that's what we're paying recruitment to do.
