Always heard McBurnie was a bit of a tw@t, don't know too much about that but he speaks well and seems quite humble.

Oh FFS, know him personally do you?

The court of TWTD in full force again, you don’t get to decide who plays for us, potential recruits be vetted by people making the football decisions.

There would have been no place for him coz I say so.

I bet Hull are gutted they signed him.
[Post edited 23 May 21:53]

Nope, our recruitment team makes those decisions and they decided not to touch him with a barge pole, because of his personality.

Is that actually a fact, or what you’ve concluded because we were linked with him with a tone of other clubs?

Assume he's viewed as too much of a pain in the backside and potential liability. Town wouldn't touch him last year given all the off-field stuff over the years.

I mean Phil literally started his sentence with “assume”. So it wasn’t exactly a concrete report.

Either way looks potentially a poor call considering Hull clearly were a tight knit group and his 19 goals in the end, fired them to the PL.

Luckily it’s a moot point.

Fair enough! Sorry if it was a bit OTT from my point of view, of course anyone is entitled to their opinions, just thought your wording was a bit harsh. I’ve enjoyed the football dialogue with you at the end of this season.

As was I OTT calling him a thug. So happy to leave it there and move on to more productive conversations.

That was in relation to his Scotland omission....

Seems like a sensible decision so we're not tied to a player who's shown previously he can't cut it in the prem and has a history of poor behaviour. Having him within our squad playing limited minutes this season may have led to him disrupting the team harmony.

Where have I said he hasn't got another chance? Where have I tried to be right?

Some really weird votes and posts on this thread but from all the usual suspects so the content of my posts probably doesn't even matter. Just waiting for our latest phoenix to add his vote and all is well with the world.

The opening post said he didn't know about the misdemeanours but clearly doesn't care as it takes seconds to look.

The op basically said that mcburnie evidently has a reputation, but actually speaks quite well. Nothing too deep.

You go straight in and have a pop for his lack of research. It was an unnecessarily snarky response to a harmless post.

That's why people take issue with it.

In fairness, I can see why it’s been downvoted. It’s quite abrupt. And it’s also an unfair precedent to insinuate someone shouldn’t have started a thread because they haven’t researched the subject matter on Wikipedia first.

Don’t think the OP said anything wrong by starting the thread and I’d suggest it was the tone of Stokers reply that has resulted in a flood of downvotes.

….and I’m not “right wing” or “a troll”.

I downvoted it because like the majority of his posts on here SB is trying to be condescending, patronising and “superior”. It would appear that many other posters agree.

Sometimes you don’t need an internet search engine to see if someone is a “tw@t” or not.

Despite certain posters efforts, not everything on this forum is about politics.

I was out with friends and family last night. Sone of us were discussing Hull’s result and I asked my mate if there were off field issues with McBurnie which may have led to his omission from the Scotland’s World Cup squad?

Oddly enough he didn’t belittle me in a condescending manner shouting “I mean, if you really cared about it you could look up his post misdemeanours on Wiki, it would literally take a minute”. Then again, my mate isn’t a pompous prig.

This thread is very weird.

I've not commented about any of his past actions at all, all I said was that if the opening poster wanted a fuller picture he could look at his history on Wiki.

Some really bizarre voting and responses, very strange indeed, almost like people aren't actually reading what I have written.

Oh well.

Eh? What was weird about my response. You suggested to the board they could look up his past actions. I added to you post to say people could look up some of the other things he's done. A completely logical and non 'weird' addition. That's how discussion works.

I think you read more into it. There was no offense intended but not sure where it could be found.

Not like you get involved in a pile-on....

For you to call somone else "pompous" is quite something. You essentially stomp around the forum making pretty nasty accusations at people and telling them what they can and can't post and what they can and can't think.

You've made the forum unusable for many, most barely engage with you anymore and I didn't want to engage with you but given you've launched at attack I felt a response was in order.

Glad you're all having fun though.

His continued total lack of understanding why is remarkable.

I didn't even mean to reply in any tone, it was a very quick reply on the move.

Certain element on here would jump on me regardless of what I post but it's been that way since for a long time now.

A thoroughly unpleasant gang of posters. Guarantee we aren't here on a second page if anyone else posts that.

“GB and [his] gang”?

Give over Stokie. You had about 12 downvotes and several comments about your self righteous attitude on this thread before I even read it.

I simply replied to another poster about how two normal and tolerant people discussed the McBurnie situation in a pub lat night.

You may, once again, want to spend your weekend arguing the toss on a football message board. Personally I have more productive things to do on such a lovely day. So I’ll leave it there. No doubt this will be another disappearing thread by the time I next check in.
