| The pitch 21:24 - Jun 6 with 1302 views | Zx1988 | Tonight's looks dreadful, doesn't it? Assuming this is representative of the quality of the pitches at this year's tournament (the US ones, at least), when would have been the last World Cup to have been held on sich poor quality surfaces? | |

| There are so many countries where football is a major sport on 21:29 - Jun 6 with 1250 views | unstableblue | … that FIFA should focus upon for these tournaments. Those countries have a large amount of high quality pitches at stadiums that can accommodate significant fans This pitch is terrible. And is sub League 2 level. Plus of course there are many countries that are not 35C plus with high humidity when games are going on. | |

It certainly looks a little cobbled together. I'm hoping that it's because Tampa isn't going to be a tournament venue, and that the main stadia will be a little better curated.

I think we've probably seen the end of the era of WCs being awarded to decent and reputable countries. FIFA will be more concerned about selecting countries that are willing to bend/adapt/remove their legislation in order to help further their financial aims. Brazil repealing their stadium booze ban being a prime example.

No, it's not. The Florida-based stadium will be the Dolphins stadium in Miami.

| The pitch on 22:00 - Jun 6 with 1048 views | RIPbobby | The bounce of the ball is odd to me. That'll catch some keepers out. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeah, looks to be holding up okay. I'll be interested to see how these pitches fare if we get a couple of the massive deluges that seem to be becoming more and more a feature of American summers.

It's bobbling all over the place and moving slowly when passed along the ground. I think we're really going to struggle in this tournament. The conditions are really going to stifle us.

It’s an NFL pitch, not one that’s hosting this summer, mistake to play there in front of 25k

| The pitch on 11:41 - Jun 7 with 356 views | stonojnr | its not though, and it held up well, played quite well I thought, there werent chunks of it coming up of it, which weve seen in our so called "superior footballing nation" professional leagues. I mean do we really want to compare Pompey and Blackburns pitch preparations as being highly professional to this ? NZ trained on it and said it was fine, the British press take one look at it and decided the whole world cup in the US (and they cant even remember Mexico & Canada are part of this too) was a terrible decision. ymmv which source you choose to listen to and agree with. | | | |
