Ryan air to cut some routes 'due to brexit'?
Where next & does it matter- apart from the redundancies?

Not Brexit high taxation by the Scot's Gov. That's the problem when you increase tax on companies they move to a different location

"300 jobs at risk as Ryanair cuts Glasgow routes due to Brexit"

how much clearer does it need to be?
Ryan air probably doesn't pay tax in Scotland or England

It might be a good idea to read the article not just the headline. Scottish govt attracted Ryanair to expand operations in Scotland when they indicated they intended to slash APT by 50%. They haven't done it so Ryanair are throwing their toys out of the pram.

Article does say Brexit is a background issue but surely it wouldn't affect flights from England as much as Scotland.

Read the article it's about taxation. Force companies to pay more tax and they move, this is 2018 its easy for any company to move even to another country if it offers cheaper corporation tax

It really would help to read the article rather than the headline.

“One aircraft and nine routes will move to Edinburgh Airport instead.” “Eleven new routes will be added to Edinburgh as it has a more balanced inbound and outbound passenger flow, the airline said”

Are they not having Brexit in Edinburgh then?

"Sadly our Glasgow base will close, about half a million of those passengers will transfer through Edinburgh. The weaker Scottish economy is even weaker in Glasgow and we simply can't bear the air passenger duty of £13.

"£13 is more than a third of Ryanair's average fare.

"We told the Government our growth at Glasgow was based on their promise to abolish APD (air passenger duty) which subsequently morphed into a promise to have APD.

"We have lost patience, there are other markets in Europe and the UK which offer more compelling propositions."

So it’s down to ADT and not Brexit. It’s just the lazy Jamie Oliver excuse.

It's not higher taxation, nor have the Scottish government increased it. The £13 APD figure is the same across the UK, with the exception of the Scottish Highlands & Islands.
