He overcooked it. Took it too far and just a smidge too wide waiting for the contact. Had he been a couple of yards over then I agree, red card.

Oh, and the whole new rule change as well - wasn't a deliberate foul.

Because the law now states that a penalty resulting from an attempt to play the ball should only result in a caution not a sending off!

& wrapping you arms around an opponent is no longer a foul according to the commentary.

& if it was the game would be all penalties.

Not just on here, but it always amazes me just how many football fans don't know the laws of the game, especially big ones like this that changed the beginning of last season!.
It took even one or two Sky co commentators a few months to work it work.

More interestingly, but unsurprisingly, how many footballers don't know the laws either, judging by the number of Chelsea players who surrounded Oliver, badgering him to send off Phil Jones.
