I was driving out of the grand canyon rangers lodge and a huge moose was just standing in the road. I was in a small rental car (Mustang - fun but absolutely terrible car) and there was no way I was going to win any argument.

I am fairly sure that they are Elk at the Grand Canyon. Moose are found much further north. When I stayed in the Grand Canyon, I awoke to two elk having a grand fight with their antlers right outside our room.

It was still massive though. If you stayed right on the canyon edge at the rangers place it might have been the same place as us. Nice little bar but worryingly close to the edge after a few.

We stayed in the El Tovar Lodge Hotel in Grand Canyon Village. Our room was just yards from the canyon edge. Great experience to get up and watch the sun rise above the canyon.
