Refs really need to clamp down on blatant time wasting. 12:10 - Nov 24 with 679 viewsITFC_Forever

Happens every week, not just in games involving us, but last night was a classic example.

Stroud was reminding the WBA players to get a move on several times, and they completely ignored him and as a result he had no authority. Finally, even he lost patience and booked the guy from running away from the free-kick, and then Johnstone for booting the ball in the crowd.

Johnstone should have been booked much earlier, but even if he had, he’d have still continued to do it. There’s no way he would have got a second booking for time wasting.

He booked the two of them for time wasting, what more did you want him to do?

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

Do it earlier.

And it happens every week, last night was just an example.

I thought WBA were almost too 'professional' for their own good yesterday. If they have played football properly for 90 minutes they would likely have won more comfortably.

The easy solution would be for the 4th official to be time keeper, stop the clock every time the ball goes out of play, but teams know that with TV games the ref cannot add all extra time on due to schedules. Games are on average around 50 minutes of playing time and a few are now into the low 40 something minutes when the ball is in play, but until officials decide to clamp down then it will continue. A count by the crowd when a goalkeeper is slowly taking a kick can be a powerful reminder to the ref of how long he is taking.

GIven how dominant they were in the first half, I couldn’t believe that they were time wasting as we needed the half time break to regroup.

The last time I remember a player being cautioned early in the game for time wasting was the Forest keeper during the last game Keane was in charge. Constant pointing at a watch, blowing a whistle or hurry up gestures do feck all.

They’d only be doing it for 58 minutes before the first card. Honestly, some fans want the moon on a stick

Agree entirely. WBA were very ‘professional’ in their time wasting. The opposite of the “honest” team that Darren Moore claimed we were in his post match interview (talked about being damned with faint praise!).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
