Phil - any news about cleaning up the stadium? 08:49 - Apr 27 with 3836 viewsBanburyBlue

I'm sure there is enough of us willing to help clean things up, could anyone propose a working party through the supporters association to the management or has anyone else heard of any plans?

All very spirited but why the hell should it come to this?

Wouldn’t happen. Risk assessments would have to be written up . Who would cover the public for any potential accidents whilst working voluntarily for the club. Evans needs to swallow the cost and get on with it. It’s general maintenance. I bet his company offices are looked after so wh not the ground?

It should have been done on a regular basis for years but it seems its just left which is obviously why its got so bad. I'm really just trying to understand why its not been done and how we can kick start it. An awful lot of it is a wash down and a coat of paint, surely not beyond the clubs finances! Cleaning the roof is of course is another thing but while it is left the cost of repairs are just going to escalate.

Oh I agree.

However, this would probably feed into the whole complacency and sitting on hands mentality of the club/Evans. "If it gets too bad, some suckers will do it for us".

Also, as pointed out, it is probably a non-starter these days anyway with risk assessments etc. Also, the money paid out in public liability insurances among other things would probably match the cost of any work that could be done by current employees/contractors anyway.

Just sort it out Evans!

Think this a terrific idea Banbury Blue. It looks like we have to be the ones that are proactive, put a bit of pride back and get anything going these days. It shouldn't be down to you BB to get a project like this up and running, but as we've seen previously nothing will get done otherwise especially if it comes down to the need of spending a pound note. It'll be interesting to see if anything develops, not holding my breath, but the sentiment is a wonderful one!!

According to many financial geniuses on here, Portman Road will actually be far more saleable in such a state of neglect. It's another cunning ploy by Mr Evans.

This.

With added it will cost a fortune to clean the NS roof, its a specialist job.

Sadly though it shows what Evans really thinks of the club.

I genuinely think the club has been re ignited by Lambert and the togetherness of the faithful is really apparent right now. what I want the club to do is stay united herein and we all enjoy the whole football experience when we go to FPR. So for me the key factors outside of the actual football is ; - A clean and tidy ground (particularly SBR's picture on the shop, its covered in green algae) freshly painted turnstile gates and a proper was down of windows and vents. I've always thought the cages beside the stairs on the north stand could have some current and historic pictures on them similar to what they have at west ham ie massive pictures of the cup winning teams etc give it a bit of life! make it look exciting..... then once inside get the catering experience sorted, the ground is bad but this is worse as we all know. If we want family's back this is probably more important than the football? The repairs for the ground will be big but if this is done correctly it will pay for the repairs in less than 2 years...…...

Thats right, but it sill makes the ground unsellable doesn't it? it's a lease effectively, he can't just flog a stand. Or can he?

The idea that we should voluntarily tidy up a multi-millionaire's plaything for him because he cant be arsed is horrific.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

But its my club as well and I want to be proud of it and take my friends and they go wow this is great. ME will do what ever he wants to do of course but just maybe we can shame him into doing something. What he should do in my opinion is 'pick the low fruit' clean up Bob and paint the gates, then gradually move on from there?

If it makes the ground unsaleable then how was it that it was sold to Evans in the first place? Nothing is permanent in this life apart from the certainty of death at some point in the future (it used to be taxes as well but the avoidance industry is quite on the ball these days) so all we, or our ultimate inheritors, do is lease stuff for a period or until we pass on even if we do buy it outright. Unless you opt for the more ethical viewpoint that we are just borrowing stuff from the future but that has some way to go before it is fully established in law.

I think your attitude is excellent and admirable! I really do. Please don't think I am being (any more than usual) an rsehole about this. If the last few years have shown us anything, it's that beyond the bare minimum of his 7m float each season which he really has to do or face closing the club, Evans knows no shame and does not care.

Listening to TalkSport this morning they had Bristol City's Chief Executive on and he was saying that their owners have been at the helm for 20 years, but importantly they are both Bristolians and have that 'emotional investment' in the club. Something ME is severely lacking with us and it shows sadly!
